I love using my Xbox for a list of reasons best not listed, lest this becomes a console fan punch-up.
But what really annoys me is how they monetize things on Live. Specifically the themes. I'm not against selling themes, particularly Premium themes. But why is it that when I pay sixty bucks for a game, I'm lucky if I even get a free gamer picture?
There are wallpapers that already sit on the system: browse to a game in your game library and chances are its background will load up. Even some of the XBLA demos I have did this. So why do I have to PAY to set that as my background?
Like I said, it's fine to sell the premium stuff, the avatar clothes and so forth. But a background image? In particular when there is one already on your system, just not accessible to you? True, there are games that give you free stuff, but this is not the norm. Of the triple-A games I played recently: AC2, Mass Effect 2, Bioshock 2, AVP - NONE gave me anything for free. And that is roughly $240 worth of games. And yet they all have backgrounds in the games library.
It seems like a rip-off to me...
