Hello all, it hasn't been posted yet, so the mantle must be taken eventually. Here is an update...or...I don't know, some thing from Hideo that peers further into the idea of Death Stranding, with Mads Mikkelsen and I guess Del Toro, possibly?

I couldn't find a video without annoying audience noises, but this seems the quietest of them all so far. It's typically mysterious, as expected. Perhaps for theories to be seeded. So, any theories? Will Mads and Toro be in the final game? Where the hell is Norman? Is he the jar baby?

The game certainly has my attention. I have no idea what it's about yet, or what's going on; but it looks weird AF which I'm into.

Meh.

I once heard a saying along the lines of, "Genius strives for clarity while pretension takes refuge in the vague".

I'm just seeing a whole lot of imagery being thrown at the screen and nothing coherent.

If it wasn't riding on the name of a man who impressed a lot of twelve year olds back in the day nobody would give a shit.

Oh, and apparently it has TV actors in it. Because ditching David Hayter and bringing in Keifer Sutherland to mumble all over MGSV sure improved the shit out of that game, right?

The expensive Mads Mikkelson and Norman Reedus could just result in more characters barely speaking and making things awkward, like Snake in MGSV.
Don't forget Guillermo, he can't be too cheap either.

No gameplay again but still it's a cool trailer. Kojima has always given me an impression that his real passion lies more with film than games but after MGS5 I'm convinced that's not necessarily the case. Still though, like with the early trailers of MGS5 I have a feeling this game is still years and years away. I think that nothing really concrete can really be inferred from the trailer(If I had to guess the game's themes seems to be a combination of Invasion of the body snatchers and Children of Men) rather than the general style and tone of the game and that it will be a collaboration between Kojima and Del Toro and various hollywood actors.

What's the line from the Nostalgia Critic?
Ask me what it means! Ask me what it means!

Seriously though, good to see the bad guy from Dr. Strange got himself a new career in the space Nazis recycling enforcement division. Can't have those plastic toys killing the Aryan turtles, can we?

I am having flashbacks to Quake, the last game that Romero and Carmack worked together and the highlight between Quake II and Daikatana showed that maybe they should not have separated. Say what you want about Konami, but at least it knew to keep Hideo and his Kojimisms to a minimum to make the games appealing to the audience.

Now that he's free to do whatever he wants DS might be a great game OR it might not, there is also that.

I find hilarious that people confused Del Toro in the video with Jim Sterling.

And people wondered why Konami cancelled Silent Hills.

Dunno what the fraks goin on but I'm absolutely LOVING the visual concept design of the undead soldiers and organic machinery.

Mr. weird-ass Kojima...

Just try'n make sure the cool stays on par with the weird, m'kay?

*edit*
Geeez...scoped out the thread and I don't think what's present in the vid is nearly as vague as you guys are making it hahahahah. Ol fatty's on the run with the cyberbaby (and was formerly in custody judging by that handcuff hangin from his fat wrist)and the undead organic wwII mech army is in pursuit. The how's and why's are still unknown but that's not unusual for teaser trailers of this nature.

Yay, more vague artsy fartsy bullshit that will end up meaning jack shit once the actual game is out.

Look Kojima, I like you, but this shit isn't gonna do a damn thing for me -- Just give me some freaking gameplay. Or at least make a prerendered trailer that gives an impression of the gameplay.

I totally agree. This game totally has my attention, Kojima has never disappointed in gameplay. And, a trailer's purpose is to get your attention and asking questions, it's not supposed to make sense. I guess people are used to bad movie trailers that tell the entire plot.

Do people actually forget the games Kojima has made? Because they aren't artsy, pretentious, or vague. Metal Gear Solid 2 while the most complex plot is told to the audience as completely as possible, it's not open for interpretations by any means. The MGS games are campy as fuck so I don't get the artsy or pretentious complaints. Heck, any comment saying Kojima's work is pretentious is itself pretentious.

I was starting to think I was mad until you mentioned this (well, ok, that may still be the case) Buuuut, People don't seem as aware of visual cues as I'd imagined. There is a lot of information for those that observe. Perhaps this is why certain things are easily dismissed. It is a two way process of fueling the viewers imagination work with what it's seeing instead of being always directly told everything. It is sometimes nice to have the imagination tickled into action.

FYI, Snake not talking much in MGSV wasn't because Kiefer Sutherland was too expensive, that's just stupid hearsay. It was a design choice for several reasons.

So people can't be excited for something anymore just because of No Man's Sky? It's Hideo Kojima we're talking about, the man have never disappointed me so excuuuuuuuuuse me for getting excited.

Well to be fair, some of the symbolism seems to be fairly obvious. Dead sea life everywhere with a combination of black goop? Seems like a fairly obvious allegory for the damage oil spills cause on aquatic eco systems. The whale organs all over the tank probably extend it to how we're willing to poison the world to fuel war machines.

No idea what's up with the babies, Nazis, cords or the guy at the end though. So your point still stands.
