I while ago, I was on an IRC chat, when the subject of food came up. I brought up the following two food items:

and

And needless to say, it brought an... interesting reception to say the least.

So, any other food items you think it would be wise to share before a similar incident occurs? As far as I know, there isn't a kind of chilli/chicken soup named Rampaging Cocks, but I still retain hope.

Let loose.

There are still people who haven't heard of spotted dick? Seriously? It's the food 95% of American movies set in the UK (let's face it - London) use for jokes. Heck, it stopped being funny way over the past 500 times I heard it.

Kumquat. I don't know why, but there's something about it I still find funny. It's like the person who first named the fruit tried to think of the most random word for it.

Twinkies always makes me chuckle a bit. Something about that word is just funny, i'm not sure what. But if someone were to run into a room and shout "TWINKIES!" i'd start laughing.

Faggots are quite tasty; however, I can never finish off more than two before they start tasting a bit queer.
I have the same problem with scampi. It's fish, but it's got the texture of meat! God it's weird.

Well, duh, they are both named after the mobile service provider. I mean, come on, it's obvious.

Seriously, if I had to guess, I'd say the fruit was named after the colour. Can anybody enlighten us on the matter?

And a better question - who called pineapples pineapples? It doesn't even look like an apple, nor taste or behave like one.

There's a restaurant in Vegas and their signature dish (and indeed the restaurant name) is Pink Taco. Of course they did it 100% intentionally, so that eliminates some of the humor.

In that regard, I've always thought that Tobasco was a fun food word. It's just fun to say.
