Real life in the Middle Ages was not like the Disney movies that portray it. Families could go to war with each other and then marry their children within the same year based on the political state of the time. Kings would marry queens to preserve bloodlines and take a dozen mistresses on the side. Now I don't claim to know alot about the specific history from that time period, nor am I claiming that ALL royalty behaved this way, which incidentally leads me to my question: amongst all the songs and tales of courtly love and valorous devotion that were formed at that time, was there ever a real marriage between two members of royalty that was historically documented to be a monogamous and mutually enjoyed relationship between both the man and the woman all the way to their deathbeds (in other words, TRUE LOVE), one that actually kept the kingdom they ruled prosperous and peaceful? It'd be nice to know.

I can think of a fair few, though it depends on your definition of 'the Middle Ages'...

Still, Louis IX... stayed faithful to his wife (eleven kids, I think), participated in the Seventh & Eighth Crusades and is the only beatified King of France AFAIK.
