My fellow Escapists,
I have recently signed up to do an "Independent Studies Module" at my current university, which essentially means I can look at any aspect of my current course and do *something* related to it. Having both an interest in the Japanese Warring States Period (Sengoku Jidai) and of course video games, I decided to attempt to merge the two into one wonderful work calling it "The Rise of the Sengoku Jidai in video games."
However, I have been told that I need to link the work to previously academic works. My searching as of yet has turned up very little. My question to you wonderful people is have you in your internet browsing come across anything that deals with historical settings in video games? Whether it's a commentary on World War 2 games, an explanation about why it's become popular for game developers to to have actual historical setting as the back-drop to their games, or just anything related to the Warring States period in video games in general.
