This game deserve more hype. it may looks similar but fantastic game. Hitman is easily best stealth series atm especially when splinter cell is not coming.

Problem is that the same issues that hurt immersion creep up in every single Hitman game. It mainly revolves around the A.I. For example, in The Murder of Crows in Hitman Blood Money, if the cops saw the gangsters/criminals shooting at you, they'd join in. Additionally, restrictions (such as trespassing) only apply to Agent 47 - no one else. Or, in Colorado in Hitman (2016), there are at least 3-4 areas that all have their own disguises that are required in order that you can freely move around in them. This is an interesting idea. For example, only demolitions staff can go in a specific area. Of course, if NPCs who have incorrect disguises go into that area, nothing happens to them. Or, keycards are only needed by you; NPCs can open any door that they want. If it needs a keycard, the keycard animation doesn't even occur with respect to NPCs.

Because of these issues, I've given up on the Hitman games. They're good at what they do, but I just can't get past those aforementioned issues. If a game developer isn't willing to code a game like this so that A.I. can confront other A.I. in a meaningful way, I won't waste my money on it. Look at how much fun you can have with A.I. in the Deus Ex games, for example. You can lure criminals who are pursuing you into the police and watch them fight it out. You can't do that in any Hitman game, if I recall. The closest thing to that is in Deadly Cargo in Hitman: Contracts when a SWAT team raids a ship. They fight the terrorists/criminals who are on the ship. I'm not sure if it's scripted, though. It occurs at a scripted time, but I don't know if the A.I. actually fights each other - or if the deaths are scripted.

Hitman is more like a clockwork puzzle. Every motion is repeated and the fun lies in observing and planning when and where to attack(and what steps need to be taken to get there). When it goes well this can be pretty exciting but the fun stops pretty much immediately after you're spotted, making this a game in which you re-load your savegame over and over. It's a problem that plagued the 'classic' Hitman's and is something they haven't solved with the new game(which probably applies to the sequel as well). In a way it's also a tough balancing act. When a stealth game is also a decent shooter there is often little incentive to be on your toes at all times like in Hitman where the detail in the environments and NPC behaviors dwarf any other stealth/action game. This tension and pushback from the game's setting is I think what makes Hitman the best and 'purest' stealth game.

Despite the save re-load 'flaw'(which is probably inherent to the formula) I really enjoyed Hitman(and all the classic titles for that matter). So yeah, really glad IO didn't went tits up and that they got the opportunity to make another one. You don't see many games anymore with such a deliberate focus in this day and age.

Best part was 47 giving the thumbs up near the end. I hope it was just for preview builds that the money shot of so much effort was severely abridged though. This reminds me of why, no matter how many times I try to get into them, that I?d usually rather just watch someone good play these games.

I still haven?t played through the original Hitman 2 for example because those damn alerts to anything remotely conspicuous made it feel like it?s not even a stealth game. The snowy level where you have to infiltrate a base in Japan is brutal. It took about two dozen tries just to sneak past the sniper tower in the beginning. What makes it suck is you can?t see where the guards are facing and move at the same time because they?re too far away...but they have no trouble spotting a shadow in the forest at 200yds in the dead of night, with no binoculars. The worst part is I did it my first try probably due to dumb luck, but didn?t save afterwards.

Yeah, I loved Silent Assassin back in the day but it's a really old game like from 2002 or so. Contracts and Blood Money are also really good but similarly archaic by now. Have you tried Hitman Absolution? It's quite a departure from the old games and more of a slick stealth shooter. It's pretty good in it's own right and maybe a good entry point. The newest Hitman is a return to form but streamlined to (mostly)only the good parts.

I played the original on PC, Contracts on Xbox, and Absolution on PS3. I love how the latter controls, but it also feels too restrictive in design. The costumes concealment is very iffy to where you wonder why they had them at all, since most of the time you?re around people wearing similar who?ll expose you.

I?ve never tried Blood Money or the latest, but I have Blood Money on Steam. I wanted to play through 2 at least beforehand but it?s often maddening so idk!

I've played both games at release and not really since so it's been quite a while but going by memory I thought Silent Assassin was quite a bit harder. Blood Money has some awesome setpieces espescially the opera house and the suburb. Though my favorite is still Contracts. It's by far the darkest and the only game in the series in which I actually enjoyed the story.

I can't believe B-Cell is all over this EssJayDubya game. Having a woman F1 racer going for a 3rd straight victory, come on!!!

But seriously, everyone knows what Hitman is at this point, you either like it or you don't. I don't see why a new Hitman needs anymore hype than any other previous Hitman game (not counting god-awful Absolution).
