I gotta say I agree quite a bit with his comment about burning through a story-driven game and pretty much being done with it, at least from a gameplay perspective. The cool thing about a game like Hitman is it's one of those games that can keep on giving, especially with this new release model. As long as everything outside of "elusive" targets (which understandably need to be live) can also be played/saved offline, this increasingly seems like a prime way to go.

Any of them or just this one? Because of the episodic thing?

Have you also refused to play any Tell Tale games or Life is Strange?

Just curious.

To me as long as the game isn't bound to a network connection for the main single player (which is the case now for this), I can understand this model. It'll be released in full later for people who like it that way, but for everyone else who doesn't want to wait there are heaping portions of what I consider 6 course meals, possibly each year. Each distinct level released so far is loaded with more content than any episodic story-driven game can shake a stick at too.

You couldn't make a AAA story based game of any genre this way, because it would completely ruin the pacing and sense of place, progression, etc. It takes a certain type of game design to work well in, and with Hitman being very gameplay-driven with story only used as a backdrop to each hit, it makes sense.

Just this one. I love Blood Money. Was hoping this one would have made up for Absolution, but atleast that was a full game.

Ive played the first Walking Dead, but I didn't buy it myself, nor would I. And the Tell Tale games were never originally full games prior.

And the full version will never really be a full version, since it was broken up. Just as finishing a puzzle doesn't erase the lines. And there are those limited time missions anyways, they wont be in the full game, will they? Fuck Eidos, fuck Square Enix.

So you don't like puzzles. Fair enough, although we could really say the same thing about many other game releases that end up having GotY editions or Director's Cuts full of extra content a year later. While highly unlikely, it would be a nice concession to include all the previous elusive targets in the "full" version.

But really, this is the world of modern gaming, and there are far worse examples of multiplayer than Hitman IMO. On the contrary, as long as servers are solid it makes me feel there's still hope for MP being creative and legitimately entertaining. In some respects it's even better than what's in the Souls games because it's more minimalist in design.

....What?
I was using puzzles as a metaphor. I'm fine with puzzles as...puzzles, but I wouldn't frame a picture full of cut lines.

DLC isn't the same, as long as the initial product is finished. Skyrim is finished, with or without the DLC. Dishonored is finished with or without the DLC. Destiny, not so much. Same with Hitman. Though if they gave us a full Hitman game, then decided to add some DLC levels, that would not have bothered me, not in this way anyways.

And..multiplayer? Hitman has multiplayer? I didn't even mention multiplayer.

And I don't care if there are worse examples. That doesn't excuse Hitman, AND I thought I was a fan of the series, so it certainly matters more to me when I was super hyped for this game when they said they were going to fix the linear issues of Absolution, only to heap a ton of other BS issues on us instead. But apparently I am just stuck with Blood Money.

May have exaggerated a bit in anger. It really is just the release model and the limited time missions.

Yeah, my problem is waiting to build a new rig worth playing it on. The hardware industry is such a toss-up right now as to what's best, and I like to build to last. I'm still running an Intel Badaxe 2 board, on which I still played the UT demo on UE4 smoothly.

Would've really gotten a kick out of knocking off Gary Busey.

Oh yeah totally. God forbid that they release a full game and let you play it when you want to. Better to spoon feed you with this "episodic" model. We shouldn't be greedy, right?

FUCK.THAT.NOISE.

THE ONLY REASON this model exists is because Square-Enix didn't want to finance the entire fuckin' project at once. This is not an episodic game. This is a AAA early access game and people actually fell for it.

I suppose the alternative would be waiting until 2017 to even start playing any of the content people have been playing for the last 5 months? To me it's not much different than preordering a game and getting into a mere beta. This is of course better because all the content released is finished and polished. By the time you might be bored with one episode another is right around the corner.

I didn't even realize this game was (partially) available. Has anyone reviewed it yet?

They started reviewing per episode back in March. So far it sounds like Italy (Sapienza) and this latest one are the best.
