In the very beginning of episode one, right before DOG finds Gordon in the rubble, you hear Alyx say "I think I found somehting, drop what you're doing and help me over here." However, when you gain control and see where she was crouching there's nothing there. It's literally just dust and rubble. What did she find?!

I assumed she found something of interest that cannot be perceived by the player because Alyx perceives the game world as her universe and you perceive it as polygons and textures.
Regardless, I think it's a bit trivial to ask compared to the other mysteries of that episode. Like the fact-of-matter headless headcrab zombines.

I think she found another rebel survivor, but when DOG found Gordon she was so dstracted she just dropped the rubble back on him.

Possibly some hint of Gordon's presence, like a piece of orange hazard suit and the like. Most probably a way for Valve to have the player see Dog at the beginning while still keeping Alyx surprised at seeing Gordon.

I would also like to raise the question of why Gordon Freeman's glasses never break. It's like they're made of some fancy metal MMORPGs send you to collect. For Christ's sakes, Gordon gets blasted by Stalkers and there's not a scratch on his specs.

I thought it was simply her thinking she had found you, but being wrong.

And as for the glasses, I always assumed that you somehow protect the glasses with something from the suit, cover it up or the like, because how else do you explain being able to "zoom in?" (not that an FPS needs to explain that).
