Have you looked at the "gaming discussion" forum? That might be your problem :D

There's a fair few Reach topics in there, even if they're not drowning the forum in a tide of SPARTANS SQUEE.

Oddly, this is the first halo game I've been tempted to buy since Halo. 1.

Yea I know right. I'm kind of shocked myself. I'll probably pick it up this weekend though, sounds pretty cool so far.

Oddly enough, me too. It seems to have more in common with Combat Evolved than 2&3 did.

Same here. Never played Halo, but this one actually makes me want to get it. Too bad I don't have a 360.

On a side note: This should be the last Halo game. Not that it's bad from what I hear, but isn't Bungie not working with Microsoft anymore after this game? For Halo to continue, it would either A: Have to be multiplatform (Which I have NO problems with) or B: Go to a new studio (This almost NEVER ends well...)

For me, it's the idea of no Flood, but also the idea of hopelessness. So many games you win at the end. All's right with the world, congrats. I'm interested to see how such a... well, mainstream game will cope with the challenge of a 'you all die' ending. Plus, I've been familiar with Bungie since Marathon - As much as people who rail against Halo as being mainstream mediocrity (an opinion I've never held, they've all been rather enjoyable if unambitious) If anybody can manage such a writey-plot challenge, it's the guys who came up with DURANDAL.

Sorry, I was busy playing Reach. It's awesome! (assuming you like FPS's with jetpacks and a tenuous grasp on realism)
Do you want me to start some threads about it? [/rhetorical] Most fans are either playing it or commenting in the Halo Fans group.

My only issue so far is that the story's not particularly well presented; I've frequently been thrust into missions in which I've had no idea why I'm strolling to this particular point to kill some aliens, other than because the game says so. But, on the other hand, jetpacks!
I've got 23 achievements in it in half a day... That's either a very bad sign suggesting I'm an achievement whore, or suggests that the achievements are given out over-liberally.

That pretty much sums it up for me. I might actually buy it at some stage, both for having a more downbeat, less generic macho save the world story, and no flood.

I hate the mother fucking flood.
