Uhm, this may piss some guys on here off as I guess it is advertising in a sense, but in a way it's not, I've written (along side 3 other guys) a handful of reviews and pre-views etc, but we've only just started out and would be very grateful to anyone who reads and follows our site which can be found here:
http://shoot2killreviews.blogspot.com/

Reviews and pre-views that can be found are:
Halo ODST
Final Fantasy 6
Assassins Creed 2
Plants vs Zombies
Forza Motorsport 3
Shogun Total War(Part of a "Best of the British" series of reviews)

And quite literally many more

We're really grateful to anyone who goes on the site or gives us feedback on the forum (a link to which can be found on the site)

Cheers
The UK Gamer Team

I hate to break it to you, but advertising is pretty frowned upon here, and I don't think the mods take too kindly to it either.

You can write your reviews there no bother, you just cant link to other site, just copy and paste the reviews into the review section.

Ok then, attempt 2
Shogun Total War:
What can you say about the first total war game? There is only one word to describe this series. Epic. Taking place in the sengoku jidai period of japan, Total war places you as the warlord of one of japans major clans all battling out for supremecy to become Shogun of Japan. The game featured revolutionary battles, something absolutely amazing in the year 2000 players could battle with huge armies of thousands of men, fighting it out like their baguette was stuck in the washing machine, and ultimately ending in a victory or loss.

In the year 2000, 3D models for each of the units would have destroyed anyones computers, not to mention look pretty blocky and awful, so they chose multiple well animated sprites to use for each unit, with the map being 3D. This was a good decision, as it is fun to play even by todays standards when hardcore pc gamers cant even look at a game without 8X AA and 16XAF, none of which would have been present or needed in that day.

One of the main reasons the game achieved such popularity and spawned the sequels that it did was its campaign map. Featuring the whole of japan split into different territories, gamers could build their cities and castles up in a civilisation/risk style, increasing their defences the amount of "koku" (the games odd currency) it could produce, and different units with more powerful weapons and armour. Their was also a chance to create assasins, spies and diplomats to use against your enemies to kill off important generals and make lovely alliances. This game is more than deserving as going down as one of the most legendary RTS games ever made.

Please note that this is part of a series of reviews, which can be found on the UK Gamer site, a link to which can be found above (hangs head in shame)

Heh we need a mod with the Repoman avatar since that song just started playing in my head.
Oh is that in a song? I was just implying a mod was on his way with the banhammer ;D

As everyone else has quite rudely stated, this is a form of advertising which is frowned upon by this community. You're welcome to tack this link onto your profile, and post-note your posts saying there are most reviews in the blog found on your profile, but direct linking is frowned upon.

I do encourage you to post the reviews here to get criticism, feedback, and commentary. Your second post was spot on, and I'm going to pass along some notes.

What can you say about the first Total War game? There is only one word to describe this series: Epic. Taking place in the Sengoku Jidai period of Japan, (Explain what this period is briefly if possible. Most of us aren't familiar with the various periods in Japanese history, their importance, or even way of life.) Total War places the player as the warlord of one of Japan's major clans. All of which are battling out for supremacy to become Shogun of Japan. (Line Break.)

The game featured revolutionary battles, something absolutely amazing for the year 2000. Players could battle with huge armies of thousands of men, fighting it out like their baguette was stuck in the washing machine, and ultimately ending in a victory or loss. (This analogy is questionable, as it hardly makes sense an doesn't convey the image? you were looking to convey. All it does, for me as a reader, is sends an unclear picture.)

In the year 2000, 3D models for each of the units would have destroyed anyone's computer, not to mention look pretty blocky and awful. So they chose multiple well-animated sprites to use for each unit, with the map being 3D. This was a good decision, as it is fun to play even by today's standards, when hardcore
PC
gamers can't even look at a game without 8X AA and 16XAF. None of which would have been present or needed in that day. (Are you suggesting a game's "fun" quality is dependent on the graphics?)

One of the main reasons the game achieved such popularity and spawned the sequels that it did was its campaign map. Featuring the whole of Japan split into different territories, gamers could build their cities and castles up in a Civilisation/Risk style, increasing their defenses, the amount of "koku" (the game's odd currency) it could produce, and different units with more powerful weapons and armour. This game is more than deserving as going down as one of the most legendary RTS games ever made.
As a review, the frequent lack of apostrophes and occasional misspelling really take away from what content is present, and makes the review as a whole feel uncomfortable to read. The apostrophes and lack of full-stops or capitalizations distracts the reader instead of calling their attention to the review.

That said, it's also a very light read that ends up explaining just enough about the game itself while completely missing any commentary on the gameplay itself. You mention the epic scale, and the setting. You don't speak on the actual game controls, the music, the sounds, or how the game feels when playing.

As a discussion about a game, this would be a great introduction, but as a review, it's missing many of the elements needed to be a full review.

Yes, it was advertising, I didn't realise it wasn't allowed, I'm new to this as you can see from my post count and I've already said to any moderators feel free to delete it as I don't know how to delete this myself.
The End.

P.S To New Classic, thanks for your feedback, the only helpful feedback here as it stands, the guy who wrote it Senjaru is working on imrpoving it as we speak.
