What sort have awful mistakes have you done or heard about whilst cooking? Ever not realized the oven was off? Ever had an interesting time with a toaster?

I have heard: a guy who mistook salt for sugar, and put in on ice cream.

I have done: put a fork in the microwave and not realized it. (did this just now, inspiration for this)
I have also: exploded grapes in a toaster. On accident. Really.

When I was a kid, I liked drinking milk. I also liked drinking water. So I figured that if I mixed a drink that was half-milk and half-water, the result would be mindblowingly awesome.

I got Mum to make me a drink like this. It was on this day that I discovered the meaning of the phrase "sometimes the whole is less than the sum of its parts".

I nearly burned the house down with Microwavable Ramen.
I forgot the Water and added an Extra Minute.
My thoughts were "Odd, it didn't say Beef" becausee it looked like the bottom had a large bite taken out of it, and the ramins were burned to a Brown and Black crisp.

It was smoking, and luckily didn't catch the garbage bag on Fire.
The house did smell of Nuked Styrofoam smoke for a few days though

I guess it's not that horrible, but I 'accidentally' put a plastic plate into the microwave for 10 minutes.

I was baking in cooking class and a guy was begging me for my shit while it was still cooking, I said probably and he rested his wet hand on my potholder. So when I pulled the shit out I burnt my hand since the potholder was wet. I kinda just rushed putting it on the counter, the dickhead laughed at me, it was his fucking fault and he was whining for my shit the whole class.

burning a huuuge slab of cookies that i was making with my friend's sister, whats odd about this is the cookies actually tasted somewhat good. They were just black on the bottom.

Stove caught fire once when I made pasta.

I thought "Hm...best way to put this out would be with either water or a rag." So I just grabbed the rag next to me and began to hit it.

Unfortunately, the rag was covered in oil so that caught fire as well.

Not too long ago I was making chicken burgers for lunch, and before I even put the chicken in the frying pan they caught on fire. Seriously, it wasn't even near the flame. How the fuck? It still boggles my mind to this day.

My brother once threw a Pop Tart in the toaster without first checking what setting it was on. Next thing I know, I'm trying to smother the toaster with a wet towel because the kitchen burst into flames.

Needless to say, my father was over for a visit. He rolls up to the house and sees black smoke pouring out of the windows (we had to let the house vent), and he kicks down the front door to see if we're alright.

Good times.

I am still recovering from that. It's in there pretty deep.

I burned lasagna by unknowingly leaving it in the oven for 3 minutes too long... it burns easily.

I once burned butter, and then proceeded to spill it on the floor. It melted holes in the urethane covering the linoleum and the room filled with smoke.

Brother once put a pop tart in the mocrowave and set it to 3 minuts instead of 3 seconds.

The house was full of smoke, smoke detectors went off, a neighbor even called the Fire Department.

Those kind are always the best.
yeah, i do have one friend who likes cookies that are a little burnt, but these were a little bit over-killed, but I'm not surprised that you like them black on the bottom lol.

Unless it is really mentally scarring, you should describe it. I promise to keep the media on a leash.

Really though, some burnt foods are not all that bad. Except pancakes.
