i have been thinking about my game, that wont come to life but might (im only 13) because im so confident that i can without paying any money :| but i have been planning this horror game out that i was inspired off of Fanf, where you CAN move around and its set in a run down low budget park. heres the beginning story: A horror game about a man/woman (you select in the start of the game) who goes in a low budget amusement park called Fun Land at night. He/she is attacked by monsters that don?t seem to harm him/her other then scare him/her and stress him/her out. the main objective is to keep running before something happens to him/her. i pasted that from a document i made.

ok this is stupid lets talk about whats up there^ the atmosphere. i was going for a atmosphere where it was a very intense and very extreme at certen times, when in reality, its building up to nothing.
i know this might sound harsh but its acually effective. i saw it work once when pewdiepie was playing a game and the game for the whole time had a very intense atmosphere, and he was freaking out.
tell me what you think!

also tell me what atmosphere you perfer

Personally, I think I'd be kinda put off by a heavily horrifying atmosphere with no pay off. I think the Ju-On games for the Wii kinda did what you were looking to do, and they're more like a walk through, jump scare filled haunted house than a game. The only way you can actually die in game is by failing QTE and outside of that you just have occasionally scary things happening as you walk through a level. It's neat as a concept I s'pose, but why stress out if my character is never in any really danger, ya know? Also, I'm pretty sure PDP freaks out at anything since that's his schtick, I wouldn't really use him as an indicator of... well much anything.

As far as my favorite scary atmosphere, I'd have to go with deep space. Something along the line of Aliens or Dead Space. For starters, they're probably the most isolated of an environment as you can possibly get. Add in a good bit of claustrophobia and some pitch dark rooms and you've got yourself perfectly set up for a scary atmosphere.

P.S. Also, if you're looking into the scary theme park theme, Silent Hill 3 takes place in a derelict theme park. At least, for most of the time I think, it's been a while for me. It's widely regarded as a pretty successful horror game, so that might be something to look into.
