I tend to discover new anime by watching amvs on youtube. one of my favourites is soul eater, which I would never have found without this video

Tvtropes. I always go through examples of tropes I like and if I see one name enough then I check it out. Or I just go through the list of shows on Hulu and Crunchyroll.

Either through other people's recommendations, or by looking through lists of anime and thinking 'Ooh, that looks good'.

I'll pick a random manga on one of the sites I frequent and if I think it's good I'll check to see if there's an anime based on it.

It's foolproof!

Also in threads about anime recommendations, usually on this very site.

I find a list on google, read a brief description and decide if I want to watch it.

Also some recommendations but I think I've gotten through most of the famously recommended ones by now.

I've found a site that actually has a LOT of anime on it so I'll occasionally browse through the list until I find something that sounds interesting.

Site: www.anilinkz.com

TVTropes, of course. Unfortunately, this tends to lead to spoilers more often than not, so if that bothers you don't use it. I ended up with part of the ending for FMAB spoiled because of it.

Either word of mouth well texts on here or checking previews from this anime blogger site (they review the latest animes on a daily basis).

Thats pretty much what I do, if I enjoy reading the manga I'll bother to see if I like the anime.

The rest is just basically word of mouth.
