I have been looking at myself critically today and I have found I just can't get myself motivated. Everytime I try to get myself to do something I need to do but it just get drowned out by thoughts of "I could just be at home watching youtube right now".

So Escapians... How do you get yourself Motivated?

I try to get the majority of my work done when a motivational mood strikes me, those days where you just can't stop doing stuff. I cram as much things in as possible and then the rest of the time when motivation is severely lacking I wait until the mood hits me again.

Needless to say I'm very bad at deadlines

Alchohol usually.

Cleaning my flat is boring and I am never motivated to do it, but after a few drinks and crank up the sound system, cleaning doesn't seem quite as boring.

Alchohol can be used in a variety of "sudden need of motivation" circumstances.

-Like going shopping
-Meeting an old friend
-Walking the dog
-Getting a job
-Leaving the house
-Surviving highschool
-Making that first move on that special someone
-Making that first move in the red light district
-Filing for divorce
-Singing and playing musical instruments in front of a crowd
-Doing that one thing that everyone else is to stupid to try, but will make you the talk of the group all night
-And most importantly, alchohol gives you motivation to pour another drink

Cheers!

Meh, being interested in the subject is usually enough to get me motivated.

Something I'm not really bothered about though, and I'll procrastinate like mad.

If you ever find out, let me know. I've struggled with motivation all my life. I can sit in front of my computer for hours, screaming at myself inside my head the whole time to get up and do something.

...goddamnit...

OT: I get really sad.

No, seriously. I am the most productive when I am bordering on a mental breakdown. Because that's healthy!

The question isn't how do you become motivated. The question is why aren't you motivated.
thats...actually a really good point

... you mean that thing that you're not getting enough of now? =P

On Topic:
Usually I get motivated by getting in the car, loading whatever song strikes my fancy that particular day and then screaming it at the top of my lungs until I'm hoarse. I'm ready for anything then.
I relapsed :(...and it was soooo good

Well... you know what they say. If you fall off the wagon, you can either get back on the wagon... or you can murder the horse and burn the wagon down to its axles.
or sell the hoarse and wagon for drug money and stumble off into the sunset high as a kite

Is "motivated" some kind of disease? If so find a highly motivated person and make out with them, you might just catch it.

Or rob your drug dealer and use the horse and wagon as a getaway... umm... wagon. Get a DUI, land in jail and drink prison hooch (fruit juice mixed with bread or yeast and allowed to ferment in a black trash bag for a number of days).

hmmmm....if its an Australian prison Vegemite may be more effective

(and now that I think about it there may be some cranberry juice in my fridge thats been there for months)

anyway that stuff sounds nasty

Thinking of the possibility of failure, I do not like failing so I'll carry through just because of that, I'm pretty hard to demotivate of doing something, but then again I'm also to easily distracted so it's kinda hard to keep concentration for extended periods of time [small](2 hours is as far as I go without zoning out)[/small], also because I'm weird just thinking about how awesome I am motivates me, I have no idea why but I'm pretty sure I'm amazing, even though I'm not particularly good at anything.

It's supposed to be the prison equivalent of Moonshine. There's rumors that drinking too much of the stuff will make you go blind. Nothing motivates me more than to not have to see people anymore (and now we've gone full circle).
Sort of like fools meth:

OT: Honestly all I usually need is a good nights sleep, a bacon sandwich and a really long run up.

I have one of those annoying "I want to be better than everyone" personalities. All it really takes is doing one thing wrong and I'll start working for hours on end to make sure that I become flawless at whatever I failed at.

If you mean something work related I guess I just say to myself the benefits of me being in work and not in my house like getting experience, abit of exercises (especially when I just sit in front of the pc most of the time) and etc since there are times when work get boring.
