Just wondering how the escapist has their martinis, or what their favourite drink is if they don't fancy a martini. I'm also setting up a bar at my house at the moment and I was after some ideas for drinks/cocktails that are pretty simple. I realise that not everyone here is over 18/21, so if you're too young tell us what you WANT to drink when you become of age
Here's my instructions whenever I'm at a cocktail bar:
"Hendrick's (Gin) Martini with a splash of Dry vermouth, best you've got, stirred with a twist of lime"
This gives a delicious drink, made with very good quality Scottish Gin (Hendrick's is fantastic), Stirred instead of shaken so as to not "bruise" (i.e. overly aerate: James Bond shakes his, but he drinks Vodka martinis which aren't as fickle as gin) with just a hint of vermouth so it doesnt overpower. To top it all off, Lime peel is slightly sweeter than Lemon, and contains less citric acid, which in my opinion tastes nicer.
Great, now I want to go to a cocktail bar, but I'm not getting paid 'til Thursday
However, I will get myself a Gin and tonic with a slice of cucumber and await your replies
