How do you rapidly press buttons?

The question is in the title. It seems people can have very different ways to rapidly press buttons, so I'd like to see how my fellow Escapists do so.

When I know its coming up (like the 5 times I had to hold on to the ledge with Sheva in RE5)I usually bring my right pointer finger and thumb together and push the controller towards my finger with my left hand.

Usually thumb when it doesn't really matter, but if it does, the nail of my pointer finger rapidly going back and forth across the button...

Viciously. But seriously, I usually just use my thumb, I can generally do sequence things easily enough that way. If it's one of those repeat button things then I go into one of those Track&Field finger stabby trances.

For like, a mini game press-fest, I alternate hitting with my index and middle fingers on my left hand, rapidly.

... I was going to answer this thread properly, before I saw how easily you could make a sex joke out of the way I do it.
And I do not trust the internet to not make that joke.
I can't facepalm right now, you guys. My head hurts too much to facepalm.

I alternate between my thumb and index finger, in a console game. Otherwise, just my index finger for PC games, and just my thumb for remote controls.

And I mostly do it with regard to these things.

He uses a keyboard and mouse...he's a PC gamer.

BTW, I usually just press the button really quickly with my thumb, but if I really need that extra edge, I take a T.V. remote or something and move it quickly back and forth over the button.

I actually bring it up to my face and hit it with my jaw while chattering my teeth. It really works!

right forefinger and middle finger like making them walk very fast for light button presses, if I need to hammer the button home it has to be a twin thumb job

that's for when it's two buttons at rapid speed

for one button I just go with the right thumb hammering as fast as I can

If it's a Gamecube controller, I cross my legs, put the controller in my lap so it sits still, then use my two index fingers to mash it like hell. If it's a different controller, I'll hold with left hand, mash with right index finger. Has always worked for me. And since Nintendo is the one that has used mashing the most, the Gamecube thing works pretty well for me. Especially with Mario Party.

With my fingers? Can't say I have my own highly developed technique here.

Plus, the only game I've regularly played where there is obligatory button mashing was Mario Party for the N64, back in the day. Now THAT was the party game of the millenium.

I use my index finger to rapidly mash whatever button I have to push. This is a technique that I perfected in order to get my avatar to dance while playing 1 vs 100.

I push my thumb, index and middle fingers together, keep my hand and forearm rock-steady and use my bicep to move my hand.
