How much do you care?

Do you personally invest in every person you meet? Just your family? Just your friends?
Who do you decide to care about and why?

I personally decided long ago that I would go insane trying to care for everyone in the world, and decided that I would look out for the people I love and the rest of the world could burn as long as they are safe. So I care about my handful of close friends and some family. I don't feel any obligation to like someone; if they treat me badly, even if they are family, I have no reason to care for them.

I'm pretty much the same. If someone treats me bad or if I feel they don't deserve my caring, I don't give them any.
I've never believed in having to do things just because they are. Principles don't mean shit to me.
I love the ones I love and care for the ones I care for just because I do love and care for them.

The only exception are people from couch surfing. I go out of my way to help them find somewhere to stay.

It is very, very, very easy for me to like people and for them to earn at least some of my trust. To me, making new friends is as easy as a Kirby game.

But it is just as easy for me to decide that I dislike/distrust them and scorn their name

I extend the "innocent until proven guilty" thing to my social life. Treat me with respect and I can be your best friend. Fuck with me, and I'll effectively act like you're a piece of shit that may or may not exist depending on whether I feel like dealing with shit.

I really only care about my parents, grandparents and closest friends. I'm rather attached to my other relatives and frequent acquaintances, but I'm not going to get torn up if I lose them.

Everyone else can piss off for all I care. Seriously, billions of people could die but if it doesn't affect me or those close to me in any way, I won't really care.

Other than my famliy and closest friends, there is not much in this world that I actually care about. I don't mind listening to peoples problems, and helping people out, since I am a nice guy, but once they've finished talking or the problem is solved, I never think about it again. Also, earlier this year I helped save a mans life, but he later died in hospital, when I found out, I didn't really care, it was a shame as he had 2 kids and kind of felt bad for the guy for a few seconds, but I didn't know him, I'd never spoken to him, so why care about him?
If I cared about anything more than I had to, then I would be so depressed and unhappy, I'd end up going mad, as it is I am a very happy person and enjoy my life, even if it is really boring right now.

I'm not sure what you're asking here. Are you asking how much I care about the well-being of other people? I guess I don't know how much I care. From what I've seen, I care more than other people, but maybe that's just in my age group. Maybe my friends and family could tell you how much I care.

I care about people, I will listen to people's problems and will give them the best advice I can no matter if it is a stranger on a bus or my closest friends and family. But if someone gives me a reason to not care about them, I will cut them out of my life completely without a second thought.
