i work for the County Court and i deal with a lot of divorce petitions so i deal a lot of couples who have large age gaps but how large can an age gap be before it becomes a bit weird? the largest gap i've dealt with so far is 23 years which, to me, is really weird. but that could just be because i'm 23 at the moment but when i think that if i end up marrying someone 23 years younger than me, they would have been born this year. that's just weird.
what do you think? how much of an age difference is too much? or should the age difference not matter at all (let's keep things legal!)?

I think the limit's around 20, 25 at the very most. I might be kind of bias because my sisters husband was 20 years older than her, and they got on really, really well. Then the police framed him and turned him into a fugitive, but whatever.

Half your age plus 7. Golden rule of dating.

Honestly it depends on the maturity and relationship of the people.
Although the general rule is the older you become the wider an age gap is allowed before people find it weird. Also if the woman is older then it usually can be a wider gap.

Maybe 10-20 years, but it makes a huge difference if they're younger.

As long as they're both over the age of consent in wherever they live, it's all good.

It takes all sorts and frankly there's too much more important crap to worry about in life to bother with the age of the people you fall in love with.

Sounds good enough for me. Even if is a reference to something I don't know or just 'the rule'
And now I know

(and knowing is half the battle)
G.I. Joe!
I want to say: "and knowing is half the battle," every time someone says: "and now I know."

Anyway, I agree with the divide by two, add seven. Other ages work as well but as all things: it depends on the people involved.
