Do you command a high level of respect?
Or perhaps you're ignored and dismissed out of hand.

personally, i think that some people like me, but don't respect me, as it has been made clear with people finding a roblrm with anything i say.
Although i think a lot of that comes from my irrational behaviour.
What about you?

Even though I'm a fairly new member, I've found some interesting conversation and chat, but I hold value in real-world respect a bit higher, even on forums and sites where I'm a little better known.

(Isn't this a pretty close to the topic made just now about being a recognized member? I mean, the two correlate quite a bit at the very least.)

I doubt any regular poster here is really "respected" because there isn't many people that are very well known as posters, at least to my understanding. So yeah, for me it's post-to-post basis. Sometimes people have problem with what I say, sometimes they don't. I don't really see a pattern to it.

Respect? My shoes apologize for any discomfort they might have caused.

Oh, on the Escapist forums? I haven't thought much about it.

However, I can say that I definitely recognize my member. Though it doesn't get much respect from others in the forums.

..Well, honestly I think a lot of people don't like me. I guess it's because I somehow get on people's nerves even when I don't try to. Sure, maybe a lot know me but usually I don't receive the best of comments. However, it helps me at least develop a stronger character (cheesy I know).
They're just silly. You're the most mature and 'developed' person I know.

Yes, I command a high level from my subjects or they get a beating!

Meh, some people notice me. But I doubt they look for my comments like they look for a reviewer they often agree with.

I've maintained a comfortable level of near-anonymity for the past three years. I post, people respond, and life goes on. I've almost never pissed off another forum member, and in terms of eloquence and intellect on the forums I'm somewhere in the middle. Really just an average Escapist as far as I can tell.

[small]although if anyone enjoys my posts you're welcomed to let me know and humor my secretly monstrous ego[/small]

You and me both know that's a lie :)
People love you, when you say something, it's taken as serious, and it's respected.
When i say things, people pick up a single point, twist it, then complain.

You're one of the nicest and most respected people i know.
:)

Yeah, it's similar, but a different topic.
Hitler was well-known, but we certainley don't respect him.

Being known and being respected are different things.

That really was touching, thanks man. You're one incredible guy and I am very grateful to of known you throughout my time here. Also mentioned your name about recognized members.. you deserve a medal for just being you.
If I get a medal, everyone else should too because there are heaps of fantastic people here. I guess that's how the 'Thanks' badge was made. Except that it's rewarded for practical things, not thinking a certain way and to be frank, I don't mind at all.

With all due respect, this thread (as mentioned before) is very similar to a thread in which you either started or posted in quite a bit. I think if you feel that you are liked by a few, but not respected, then you shouldn't make posts seeking acceptance. Either you are or your not. Actively seeking acceptance is a way for people to not respect you. If they don't like you, that's one thing, but they'll never respect you. The two aren't mutual.

My advice: who cares. This is the internet. Just keep your chin up and don't get too involved. Save the worrying for the real world and heed my advice for that most importantly.
Hitler was well-known, but we certainley don't respect him.
It was a different story when he was alive. Many did. They feared him and hated him, but they respected him. Still today, he's held in respect. We teach ourselves not to repeat what he did out of respect of the consequences of his actions.

I doubt I've registered on most peoples' minds. My avatar seems to have changed the way people view me and my posts though, because ever since I added it I've gotten into far more arguments. I think it makes people read what I type in an angrier/more confrontational tone.

It's not exactly respect... but it's something, I guess.

I've seen enough of (and mostly agreed with) your comments on here to give you some respect.

OT: If anyone hasn't been on here long enough to be registered by anyone its me.

I'm pretty sure that's bullshit. :p

As for me, I dunno, outside the dozen or so people I talk to here on a regular basis, I doubt anyone here cares all that much. But then again I don't care too much either.

Thanks for proving my point.
People take what i say, twist it into something i didn't mean, and then complain.
I can do no right whatsoever in the views of ANYONE.

I've given up on trying to get respect, i gave up a long time ago.

And the thing about Hitler...
I don't respect Hitler, i don't respect the things he did, or what he stood for.
It was a different story when he was alive because he was a very real threat.

So respected that it goes full circle, and I'm back to being hated. Because I'm so respected, you see.

Read the wheels: R E S T E C P. Restecp.

Seriously though, I've had post-traumatic reactions to that word since my mother's boyfriend lectured me about "respect" almost daily when I was young, while threatening to beat the shit out of me. I've only seen it demanded by people who don't deserve it.

So what was the question again? Right, respect is a strong word. I wouldn't say I respect anyone on an internet forum. I enjoy reading some user's posts more than others, that's all.

Are we talking about on the Escapist or real life here? To be honest, I don't think I command much respect in either though...
