It's purported that Einstein said 98% of the world's population could not figure out this logic problem.
Please spoiler any serious answers.

There are 5 houses each with a different color. Their owners, each with a unique heritage, drinks a certain type of beverage, smokes a certain brand of cigarette, and keeps a certain variety of pet. None of the owners have the same variety of pet, smoke the same brand of cigarette or drink the same beverage.

Clues:

The Brit lives in the red house.
The Swede keeps dogs as pets.
The Dane drinks tea.
Looking from infront, the green house is just to the left of the white house.
The green house's owner drinks coffee.
The person who smokes Pall Malls raises birds.
The owner of the yellow house smokes Dunhill.
The man living in the center house drinks milk.
The Norwegian lives in the leftmost house.
The man who smokes Blends lives next to the one who keeps cats.
The man who keeps a horse lives next to the man who smokes Dunhill.
The owner who smokes Bluemasters also drinks beer.
The German smokes Prince.
The Norwegian lives next to the blue house.
The man who smokes Blends has a neighbor who drinks water.

Who owns the pet fish?
This is NOT a trick question where there is no fish.
Norwegian Dane British German Swede
Yellow Blue Red Green White
Water Tea Milk Coffee Beer
Cats Horse Birds Fish Dogs
Dunhill Blends Pallmalls Prince Bluemaster
For those of you who want more puzzle fun, I have made a thread for it that can be found here: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/362.159731#4022097

Why do we care who owns the fish?
Because it is a logic puzzle. If you can figure it out then apparently you are smarter than 98% of the world. Don't you want to say you are smarter than 98% of the world?

I have an I.Q of 162. I already AM smarter than 98% of the world. Also, Your Momma owns the pet fish.

We only have your word for that, this test is distinct proof.

How is it distinct proof if only one man, however smart he may be, said it? Did Einstein have a record of every human that lived on earth?

I am speaking in loose terms. I am sure it is not exactly 98%, but it is probably around there.

I.Q tests measure how good you are at I.Q tests.
I know, but given that there is no other way to actually measure intelligence it has to do. And there is a link between I.Q and actual intelligence. More intelligent people are more likely to have a higher score.

In fairness, the narow sets of intelligence that I.Q. tests measure is this sort of thing. Then again, Jaranja's MENSA level I.Q. counts for naught if he refuses to make use of it.

EDIT: In fairness, have an above average I.Q. (about 135), and I can't be bothered to do the puzzle either.

There are a lot of people who do much better than I at such puzzles. There are people who can remember more digits of pi, there are those who can do mental math gymnastics that make me look like a middle schooler by comparison.

Chances are, I've published many more papers in top-ranked science journals than any of those people.
