What do you think would make Sonic games better? (refering mainly to any 3D games)
Or in what ways would you change more recent Sonic games?

In my opinion they should re-cast Ryan Drummond as the voice of Sonic, he did an awsome job in Sonic Adventure and SA2. The same sould be done for the rest of the characters too; the voices in SA2 were the best.
And they should stop making more, and more new characters, re-use some old ones like Metal Sonic.

Anything Bringing it back to the SA series would be a step forward

tru that however E-102 Gamma is still one of my favorite Sonic Characters

Well yes the series should be more focused on speed, that's what Sonic Unleashed is for remember?

get rid of anybody who isn't sonic or eggman/robotnik(whatever he's called now), and his minions.

Keep the level design simple.
Shoot whoever was in charge of camera angles in the previous Sonic games and get some new ones.
Stop adding new characters.
Tighten up the controls. Actually Sonic Unleashed seems to be doing this what with actually having controls for changing rail or going around corners at breakneck speed, so as long as they dont screw up any of the above things, it'll be the best sonic game out in a long long time.

My opinion is get back to sonic's roots, a game that scrolls right. I mean really, with a bionic commando: re-armed style coat of paint the and the old school turned to 11 could breath a lot of life into the problems that riddle the 3D sonic offerings, lose the broken camera, lose the shallow collection oriented game play, (SA2 Battle I'm looking at you) and do away with unnecessary human meddling (Sonic X cartoon your who gets the death glare now)

I really believe that trying to make sonic as pure no-frills fun and polish the core game play could give it new life also, Sonic Adventure was pretty damned amazing, so a continuation of that would be pretty fun.

Stop trying to make the games into action adventure games like Shadow the Hedgehog, bring it back to the days of speed. Although I will admit that Sonic Adventures for the Dreamcast was a great game, that was because the Sonic levels were Sonic levels: fast, straightforward speed runs. The other character's levels were action adventure, and I think those were fun. But Sonic is fast, he should stay fast. I think the upcoming Sonic RPG is just going to bomb, but that's just my opinion.

oh so many things to say.

Effort:
Lets face it, comparatively between the new ans the old, sonic games have declined in the all around effort and quality. Just take a peek at how glitchy Shady la hedgehog and The 360 version of the game was. The more effort you put in, the more heart, the better the thing will get.

Development of characters: I'm not asking for much, just a little consistence. Instead of chucking out a new enemy and character ever time, try building off of the games better asked like MARIO DID/DOES. What with the iconic stars, and mushrooms and what have you. Bring back the chao, let shadow be that crazy maniacal yet lovable ball of death from SA2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TfhZsqedLbk&feature=related "note, he sounds almost British to me" "As opposed to angst central", little touches like that that arnt the central focus of the game.

I have more, but I mus go fo now, latas

Shadow is not an interesting character. He's sonic with a pallate swap. HE'S BLACK, THAT MAKES HIM XTREME

Remove all characters except Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Eggman, assorted Eggman henchmen.

What would make Sonic games better? Better level design. And a return to 2D platforming for the home console Sonic games. What would make a 3D Sonic game good? Nothing. I mean, really, if almost every 3D Sonic game was horrible, what makes anybody think Sega is even capable of making a good one? In fact, if you didn't like the DC Sonic games, there haven't been ANY good 3D Sonic games. Ever. Generalization? Yep.

I just had a bizarre though regarding control scheme. If the point of Sonic games is to mesh platforming with insane speed, what if you just controlled Sonic like a... race car? You know, like in Gran Turismo, PURE, what have you, where the analog stick is limited to steering, rather than total movement. And to move forward, just hold down the A button like it's a dang gas pedal. There go all your camera issues, because if all you had to do was hold down a button to keep moving forward, instead of adjusting the direction of the analog stick when you're suddenly looking at the course from the side or at an angle, then the camera could flip itself upside down for all I care and not bother me.

Think of how much easier those big loops would be to navigate, when the camera insists on moving away from behind Sonic to a more "aweseome" viewpoint. Currently I wouldn't know whether to keep the analog stick held where I had it before or try to adjust it to match Sonic's approximate direction at the time, which constantly changes since it's a freakin' 360 loop. Holding down the A Button though? That's cake.

if sonic games were like the sonic stage from brawl I would be content.
I stopped playing sonic games after sonic adventures (I played sonic rush but that game serves sonic just right).
I played the demo of heroes but I wasn't too impressed with it.

I totally agree, I truly believe in the 3D Sonic locked in a 2D perspective and letting the gameplay and level design back to their roots.

I think a psuedo-3D Sonic from the Nintendo DS games is the way to go.
Also, scrap all the characters. Start from scratch.

The thing is that with everyone enjoying 3-D stuff, they DEMAND that sonic do that transition. However Sonic the orginal was 2-D with a selected path and you could not go anywhere else except up and down. Sonic Heroes (mind you this was a VERY Poorly made game) was all 3D and you had to run AROUND the area and sometimes run into mobs that you couldn't ignore. The fastest time I ever went was in the starting area for about a MINUTE going around some loops that you had no control over. Thus they need to make it with LESS mobs, (I shudder to say such a thing) LINEAR Paths, and FUCKING HELL NO LOADING SCREENS.
