Ok then, My last attempt at a thoughtful debate topic got alot of flames before it got into just being about intelligent discussion. I would like to start this topic with a few statements in the hopes of stemming most of that this time around. First of all I am a fan of nintendo. I do not consider myself a Fangirl, and would gladly buy a PS3 had I more income. However I am quite happy with my Wii and feel that it can be alot of fun. That being said I was wondering since so many people dislike the Wii what would you do to fix it? I am talking about the hardware, the strategy, changes to the upcoming game lineup. What things do you feel nintendo is doing wrong, why, and how do you think they can fix them long term?

I ask you all to stay civil and remember that every one of the current 'big three' has made more than a couple of blunders this gen. The best way to run this is to try and keep your personal reservations at the door and try saying what you think would help nintendo the most in moving forward in the future.

Now Personally other than putting more funds into encoraging third party developers to really utilize the Wiimote, I can't think of much more they need to do. If more games that were not from Nintendo used this system to make fun and creative games instead of minigames I have a feeling that people would be happier. Fact is that Nintendo has shown us with games like Metroid Prime 3, Mario galaxy and Zelda that you can do some amazing things with it already even without the soon to come 1:1 that people obsess over and that the Wii motion will provide.

Release some games that I want to play. If there were a half dozen exclusives that grabbed me by the frontal lobes and pulled me towards them like some kind of atomic supermagnet, I'd own one. Seeing as the only games that really tickled my fancy were Big Brain Academy and No More Heroes, I never saw the point of getting one.

As a fangirl correction gamer, you must hate ALL the crappy girly shovelware titles the wii has thanks to shitty 3rd party companies like Disney.*shudders* To fix the Wii, Nintendo should STOP allowing these's types of games on their system. The Gamecube was better with a few 3rd party companies actually making great games.(Ubisoft's Beyond Good and Evil)

Give it an official controller for all wii games so you don't always look like a fool when dealing with finicky waggle movements.

Honestly, for a lot of people, it's too late for Nintendo. Gamers like me who grew up on the SNES went with the Playstation because it was the logical evolution for gaming. And the most recent evolution was from PS2 to 360. The problem is that Nintendo games are still Nintendo games. Great games, but I haven't been 10 for many years.

I went from the SNES to the N64. The Playstation never appealed to me and still hasn't

So Nintendo should cater just for you?

Every generation's most popular system has shovelware and a lot of it.

I wasn't aware the Wii was broken. Then again if making a shit ton of money and expanding the audience of video games indicates anything it's obviously that the system is broken.

On a slightly of topic side note, you do not start a "thoughtful debate" by belittling one side and calling the way they look at things, "HILARIOUS".

They should, if they want the dollar of me and people like me. But they won't, as they've also got their casual/kiddie gamer market cornered. Which is a shame, because a chainsaw wiimote add-on would be awesome.

Personally I don't think the Wii is broken, but many people don't like enough of the games on it or, in the case of a few, seem to feel that the use of the Wiimote is somehow embarrassing. I definatly don't agree with the latter as its all about having fun, but in terms of the former I half agree.

I love alot of the games on the Wii. I do agree they should encourage a bit more in the way of 'quality shovelware' for lack of a better term. The Wiimote is a powerful advancement and the next logical evolution in gaming. Its another step towards total immersion. Its just apparenlty hard for the companies to change and adjust for the triangulation sensing abilities.

I do have to say though to those who seem to feel the library is lackluster It looks like even more good games will be hitting it next year, Personally I'm hoping for the new Kid Icarus to be great, and sin & punishment is going to be good, but we need more like it.

Needs more third party games, or just more I hear of. And WAY more power.

Better quality control on their third-party (and some of their first-party) titles. Beyond that, nothing, really. Improving the hardware would ramp up the cost, which will alienate the demographic Nintendo are aiming for. That's all I can think of, really. If you want Nintendo to give you the kind of games that Microsoft or Sony are giving you, buy a 360 or PS3. It also needs EarthBound on Virtual Console. Maybe give the Wii a DVD player as well, but I can live with, y'know, a DVD player instead.

I would make games that appeal to everyone and aren't shitware.(Shovelware is too nice)
Add-on Hard Drive.
Better graphics, the Wii can do A LOT, look at Galaxy. Damn beautiful games.
Better and more 1st party games, why the hell did they re-make for the Pit model for SSBB if there's no Kid Icarus game coming out?!
Please, one more zelda, on the same area of the epic scale as OoT.
Real quality control on 3rd party games

Add-on HD.
HDMI connectivity
Better and more 1st party games.
Much better 3rd party games (No More Heroes!)
Well While I personally think that its a good thin they don't have HD (I think too many PS3 and 360 titles get away with being poorly designed and it makes the focus stay on graphics) I do have some good news for you.

no more heroes 2 is in development

How about a shooter of the same calibur as Gears of War and Resistance?

Maybe I should rephrase this:
How about a NEW shooter of the same calibur as Gears of War and Resistance?

You may be on to something...

Moving on, the Wii can not be fixed, because the Wii is not broken. It's done what it's intended to, and well. There is nothing to be fixed.
Some people seem to think it needs a major fix, and I was kind of curious as to just what it was those fixes would be to see if there was some underlying theme.

as for shooters, Try Metroid? I don't know I never found games like Gears of war to be all that fun, too many shooters in the market
