Huge Transformers plot hole?

At the beginning of the first Transformers movie, why would the Decepticons completely destroy a military base and steal a military computer with guns ablazin' and let everybody know what they're up to, if later in the movie, they were just going to stealthily get onto air force one, and steal the information without anyone knowing? If they did it stealthy the first time, nobody would have noticed them and they would have gotten away with it.

And I'm pretty sure those had different objectives, as nothing prevented them from gaining the info the first time, I think.

The general at the base cut the network lines with a fire axe while the Decepticon was downloading the data, and thus, was unable to complete the downlosd.

The whole movie is giant plot hole and should be burned... with fire then acid then disintegrated into atoms and thrown into a black hole.

No I think they realized they wanted data from the site and shutdown the network or connection before they finished, though I don't get why they'd have to go to a random military base to do it when half of the ones you don't see till the last quarter of the film have been hidden in military bases and could seemingly just use any internet connection to hack the humans feeble programming sesne they'd leave a hacking signature anyways.

Edit: Actually Stealth in close proximity of humans is Soundwave and Co.'s best quality.(before they made him a satelite)

It's a Michael Bay film, you can't really expect a solid plot so much as mindless entertainment.

Also undercurrents of racism.

The most glaring plot hole in the movie in my eyes, from what I can remember (it was pretty unmemorable in my opinion) was that the following contradicts itself.
-It is explicitly stated that Megatron accidentally crash lands on Earth and is frozen in the arctic.
-Later Shia Lebeuf has that little episode under the hoover dam and explains during an exposition that Megatrons plan all along was to seed the planet with his technology, and the whole technological revolution was because humans found him.

Just seems like a weird plan, to crash land in an uninhabited part of the planet with hope that humans will randomly find you, not dismantle you, and invent modern technology that will turn into transformers or whatever.

Correct me if I'm remembering something wrong. I could very well be.

Michael Bay is the epitome of everything that is wrong with movies today. Because of all our glitzy graphics and technology, it is assumed that good writing and compelling acting can be made up for with graphics. By moving the story so fast, and having so much happening onscreen all the time, the audience never has the time to stop and say "Wait, what?" and the director figures he's pulled a fast one.

It never really occurs to most people until after the movie is over what exactly they saw. Entertaining, yes, but that's about all of it.

Micheal Bay has no knowledge of the Transformers to begin with. He can pretend all he wants, but I don't care. Expecting him to not have any plot hole of any kind in a movie he makes about them is just pointless.

I just watched the movie today on TNT. I remember them talking about how the gravitational whatever or atmosphere or something messed with his navigation systems and electronics, therefore making him crash land in the arctic. It was there he froze and got covered by snow and ice, probably over the course of centuries, that is if the arctic works that way.

It's a stupid explanation for why Megatron crashed, being that he's a hyper-advanced space faring robot and all. You would think a visit to a planet would be his nature by then. Then again, it is a Michael Bay movie, so there you go.
