Is Hughes net good to play Xbox on? I can connect and download but, I can't play online games or join parties. Anyone know why?

Probably because Hughes Net has crappy download/upload speeds. My typical experience has been close to dial-up in terms of speed, but I'm not actually a subscriber, just the competition.

I have HughesNet, and no, it's not good for online gaming. Period. HughesNet is why I've basically given up playing MMOs like I used to. I can't so much as connect to PSN or even launch Guild Wars. And it's beyond irritating. The worst part of it is HughesNet is ALL I can get, where I am. If you can get something else, ditch HughesNet soon as you possibly can.

Hughesnet, intentionally or otherwise (I'm not sure on that part), slows down its service during peak usage hours. I would not recommend it for gaming at all.
