To be honest, if I ever expected it to snow on the internet, I expected it to be on activision's website when the latest call of duty is about killer monkeys invading a post apocalyptic steampunk world in order to reflect hell freezing over.

Anyway, it's nice.

To add discussion value to this, has anyone else noticed that people generally seem to care more about christmas this year? More special stuff on websites, people seem to making special efforts in their celebrations, any idea why this could be?

I think it's probably due to recession. People want to celebrate more now because they had to be more careful all year round. Or perhaps it's just the world generally being more miserable now, and people want to seize want merriment they can.

By the way, hover over the escapist logo. Nice touch.

I think they do this every year, it's a really nice touch. Anything to not see the new background they had after the redesign...

Yay, the Escapist gave me a pony! Just what I always wanted. My own little pony.

I will name him Rainbow Dash and I will hug him and pet him and squeeze him.

Oh dear. I felt stupid enough wondering how many hours the background was up, and now I'm wondering how many years since me joining have I not noticed this.

Yep. And you have to turn off ad-blockers just to use the site now. Not sure if this was brilliant on their part or a total accident. Judging by how craptastic the site's been running lately, I'm going with the latter.

Personally I would like a way to turn it off. Any ideas about how I might do that without disabling JavaScript outright?

SOmeone let the tech team know that it's flickering badly, and that yes it IS on their end, because my system is awesome.

If you mean to turn the snow off you can do that in your profile under Forum and Notification Options. Just scroll down to the Snow drop down menu and select "I hate snow!"

It isn't flickering on my laptop, which certainly isn't a god tier system. Maybe it's the browser, I don't know much about these things.
