Less than 2 days after the BBFC refused classification of Human Centipede 2, the director Tom Six has reacted to the decision in perhaps a slightly over the top manner. He brings up the point in that the movie is entirely fictitious , and that all good horror movies should be horrific.

Perhaps he's right, I thought the first film would be fairly disgusting, but after watching that Phelous guy review it, it came across as more stupid than anything. The premise isn't exactly lovely but its still silly. If the sequel is anything like that then I don't see the problem that the BBFC has with it. Although it might be one of these cases where you have to see it to believe it, like Cannibal Holocaust. What was up with that movie?

Is HC2 art? Well most things are considered art these days, and anyway, how can i judge if i can't see it?

As a principle i oppose censorship, so i'm pissed that they banned it in my country- the state doesn't have a right to tell mature adults what they can and can not see, so long as the act of seeing does not cause harm.

You know, i've never seen HC1, but i'm tempted to go to the continent and get HC2 just to give two metaphorical fingers to the BBFC ruling.

It's very obvious that this film wasn't trying to be scary in an intelligent way.

It's just gore porn, and it relies only on the sheer shock factor of its content.

Anybody can make something gross enough if they try.

The fact we are talking about it proves it is art.
If I took a dump on the sidewalk people would be talking about it. That doesn't make it art.

What people need to realize that there is good art and bad art. Not every painting from the renaissance was a masterpiece, I'm guessing the awful ones were destroyed, but they were still art. Likewise all games are art, just a lot of them are bad art. Graffiti is art, but most of it is shitty and not pleasing to look at. Human Centipede 2 is art, its just probably going to be really bad art.

What?

No it doesn't. I could start a thread about bricks. Does that make bricks art?

Because both of those things are creative endeavors the same as film?

Way to miss the point. I didn't think it could be done so well.

It's as much art as Piero Manzoni's well-known work, Merda d'Artista. And has about as much aesthetic value.

A lot of people had the same reaction when video games were called art. Just saying.
No, no, no. You have to remember: if it's something I like, than it's art.

Funny how art works that way, huh.

Okay. I could film myself dropping a deuce on the sidewalk. People would talk about it. Still not art.

Well... yes and no... a brick by its self is not art... but with a few of them they can be used to make art.

I could even perhaps carve a brick (If I had the right tool) and make it into art as well.

Not to mention the whole definition of art is different to a whole lot of people. I remember that someone sold a painting of a blizzard... which was just a white canvas... and yet it sold as art

As much as I dislike censorship, I can semi sort of understand this. Plus this would probably go against the pornography laws in England anyway "no beastiality/necrophilia/acts which may lead to death or serious damage to various parts of the body". I'm pretty sure something like this would fall into the last category anyway.

Oh, sorry. I forgot you get to decide for others what is and isn't art.

It also means BDSM porn is illegal.

Nothing like freedom!

"Art is the product or process of deliberately arranging items (often with symbolic significance) in a way that influences and affects one or more of the senses, emotions, and intellect." - Wikipedia

This movie disgusts me and clearly disgusts others on this forum, so it has affected our emotions.
So... yeah it is art. It's just terrible, terrible art.

Yeah don't use wikipedia for definitions
