Following on from the 'Games that you have to play on easy setting' post, I am not scared to admit that I always play games on the easiest setting.

I get my enjoyment from playing the game, progressing through it and seeing how it develops, and then finishing it and moving on the the next game. And I hate getting stuck somewhere and becoming frustrated with a game because I can't work something out or get past a certain section.

Does anyone else out there also usually play on 'easy' settings......?

I prefer normal or hard difficulties... but I play easy on new, unfamiliar genres.

I believe in playing through first on the easy setting, and then if you liked the game enough to play again, moving up. Trying to play hard mode on a game you have no experience with is instant deathwish. Gaming is all about the story for me anyway.

I usually play on the normal setting. Though I change it to the easy setting If I am getting smashed.

I just generally find Easy to easy, hard to ahrd, but normal just right.

I like playing on the normal difficulty. That to me seems like what the devs had in mind while making the game.

It depends on the game. DW games I may start off easy just to get a couple of levels, then play on normal or higher. On Duke Nukem 3D Im currently in the middle of a perfect "Damn Im Good" run (ie all secrets). Im now in the top 100 on the leaderboard for it.

I usually play normal or hard. Normal if it's my first time, hard if I just had a liter of mountain dew.

Easy if I really suck at the game, too.

I used to always play on Easy, now I usually play on Normal... been thinking about upping the ante for awhile now.

I rarely play easy. I always start on normal so all the challenge isn't thrown out the window. If I choose to ramp up the difficulty later depends on the type of game and how fun it is.

Depends on the game any FPS or RTS I play on hard. However if it's an RPG where the story is the main focus I will play it on easy so I don't break the flow of the game. Plus if you forget it's on easy you can feel like a badass when you take on 40 guys by yourself ;p.

Exactly. I love it when you are completely out-gunned or out-numbered, there is a chance you will get killed/fail, and yet you make it through.

I guess obvious to say, but on 'easy' I find that happens far more often than on 'normal' and is no less satisfying IMO.

I normally leave i ton default, turning it to easy if I am getting smashed.
From my experiences, Hard doesn't make things harder, it just makes them cheaper (like in Oblivion, it makes crabs take a metric fuckton of damage, or in Fallout how raiders can take 10 shotgun shells to the face and not bat an eye but 6 pistol rounds in the foot drop your ass).

I start out on normal to check out the basics and whatnot. If I'm breezing through it I'll take up the difficulty a few notches.

I usually play on normal, but I'm trying to move up to harder difficulties when I play.

I usually play games on the hardest difficulty settings, because it doesn't feel rewarding to me unless there's some difficulty involved.
