Forgive my English, I am trying, sorry....

Several of my current friends (anti-friends now maybe?) have been showing me dubstep and I can say that I think that its rehash probably. As some people say it?, nothing new under the sun. Its all been done before, years before. I just think internet is a little better than cd or mp3 to spread music maybe? I think alot if it was done in that genre jungle by artist like as clipz and tc. Anyways let the kids have their party fun with it think, its just they need to be reminded of certainty history things.

Half of me agrees wholeheartedly, and half of me must ask, "does it really matter?"

For me, its art that puts me in this position. I mean, if someone is digging cool pokemon fanart on Deviantart, more power to them.
What kills me is when these same people decide to discuss the meaning of art, while completely ignoring all of art history. Of course the "art world" doesn't get to define what art is and is not, but if I ever bring up an idea from contemporary art criticism, people seem to immediately discount it for some reason.
The current art dialogue has been going on for hundreds of years. They've been over the ideas people first come to when thinking about art, and there's a logical reason for Andy Warhol to be such a discussed artist, because of the conversation that has been going on for all this time.

Ultimately, though, how many of these people really get any satisfaction and meaning out of analyzing complex ideas of art in the first place? There's nothing inherently wrong with enjoying Tetris more than seeing a Monet in person if that's not their cup of tea.

If someone shows a real interest in discussion of ideas and history of art, or in the OP's circumstance, music, then by all means, they should aquatint themselves with history instead of muddling around a single contemporary genre.
But if they're just here for pleasure, show no contempt for their enjoying the simple things, and expect from them that they'll show the same respect for your interest in the history and concepts of the medium.

One thing though- nothing has ever been new, ever. Short of blatant plagiarism, there's no reason "unoriginality" inherently devalues something.
