Make no mistake about it: this is a pointless rant. Feel free to join in though.

As stated, I am bloody sick of the FIFA 15 ad. I get that the majority of the people on this site are American, and therefore probably don't get it ever, but because I live in Ireland I not only have to bare it on the TV, I am bombarded by it on this site, youtube, and any other online media. The reason that this frustrates me so much is not simply because I have never particularly liked soccer, but rather because the advertisement is targeting me not just because I am European, but because I am a "gamer" and therefore must really want this game. Why this infuriates me is because, with out wanting to open the casual versus hardcore can of worms, that core gamers tend not to be major soccer fans. Soccer games are for the take it or leave it crowd, you know, the bros that have a console that they play mostly with friends with a few beers on the weekend.
Hey, thats fine, there is nothing wrong with that. What is annoying is that I have to constantly see something that I am not in the slightest bit interested in, because some people that wrote an algorithm (or more likely their bosses or clients) believe that I ought to be interested in because I watch other game related content.

For what its worth, I'm pretty sick of the FIFA ad as well. Firstly it goes on far too long, but mainly because everytime I watch it, I notice more of the "uncanny valley" effect of the player, who seems to be playing football in a strangely uncomfortable way, one I haven't particularly noticed in previous FIFA games. While I'm happy to support the Escapist by watching a 30second advert for each 5 minutes of content, it's very annoying when its always the same one.

That said, I'm not sure about this whole "real gamers don't play Madden or Fifa" idea. There are certainly a lot of gamers who quite vocally express that opinion, but I enjoy playing the occasional sports title. (The problem with annual releases of basically the same games is when I do fancy one I usually pick up the 2 or 3 year old version for a pound, but the point still stands.)

If the same ad playing a couple of times sets you off then I think you have bigger problems to worry about.

Also, I am in no ways a 'dudebro gamer' I don't play on console (anymore), I don't play Call of Duty, I do like beer though. And yet I like FIFA. I don't play it often, but I certainly don't mind a couple of games of it. But yet I am lumped in with the dudebros. Isn't it great to be belittled based on your tastes. Now I know how Cod players who play more than just Cod feel like I suppose.

I'm sorry?

...I'm not sure what you want us to do about it or what you want us to discuss here.

The internet repeats ads constantly. FIFA 15 is the biggest game with the biggest marketing budget that is about to come out, therefore you're going to see a lot of ads about it. It happens with every big release and it will continue to happen with every big release. Repeating ads are kind of one of those things you just have to deal with if you want to use the internet...
