Ever sense I changed how I eat and started going to the gym iv been dropping weight like mad and im enjoying it so much :D

I eat several smaller meals over course of day starting with large and decreasing with each meal

on Monday I can eat freely and not just better food so yay for cheat day also its got other reasons for it other then being a cheat day :3

I go to the Gym 5 times a week for 2-3 hours

It has been a hard path tho giving up so many tasty foods and killing my soda/caffeine addiction but it feels like its been worth it. Its still a long road ahead for my weight tho as I am atm 296 Pounds and my Goal is to get 180 if possible.

So has anyone else had any success with stuff lately weather it be with changing your life style or getting something great to happen in life?

Good for you man. Keep up the good hard work!

Did you come up with the idea to decrease meal sizes towards the end of the day?

Great job. Keep at it and don't do what I did. I had dropped around 35 pounds when a combination of gout flare ups and colds got me out of my routine for a couple of months. Shockingly, all that weight has come back over the course of 2 years. I was prepared to get back at it when I had my motorcycle accident so that delayed my plans. I'm hesitant to start up again as I know just walking around for too long causes massive pain my hip even though I'm healed from the wreck. I need to come up with something though. Even if it's just free weights.

I have been losing weight...Not quite as much as you yet though (Although, what time scale are you talking here? Mine's nearly a stone in about 7/8 weeks.).

I don't do nearly as much exercise as you, but I did change my diet in such a way that I've been losing a decent amount.

The biggest thing I think is causing my weight loss is cutting out milk. I could easily drink 4 pints of whole milk in a day before. These days I don't drink it at all. The only milk I get is skimmed milk in my porridge in the morning.

The best thing you can do is just cut out all the crap you eat.

Back in August, I weighed 210lbs, now I weigh 175, just from cutting out soft drinks, crisps, etc. I still have those things occasionally, hell I still have a Chinese takeaway every Friday, but it's amazing what cutting out that stuff does to your body.

A little light exercise does wonders too, nothing too strenuous, just lots of walking.

Congrats dude!

I've been cutting back on bad foods and I have been keeping away from fries since that's the worst offend, and pizza. Which sucks because I love pizza, but I normally have beer with it, so I've been trying to stay away from that. Been eating smarter because of it and I don't feel like garbage afterwards, and I feel great after a work out too.

I've lost about 10 lbs, and I've been exercising every other day with either cardio or some sort of muscle work. It's a slow process, but I'm getting there.

That and I'm going to do another zombie 5k run so I really need to get in shape for that since running and going through obstacles will be a thing.

Don't want to die afterwards. :D

This.

I'd say that losing weight is mostly down to diet. Exercise is still important if you want much faster results, but I'd say it's 60 - 70% diet.

OT: Awesome job, dude! Hope you stick with it and realize that besides the obvious health benefits of losing weight, exercise can also help with your general mood. Keep at it.

Holy smokies. I get that it's a great feeling but be careful about burning yourself out. That kills a lot of people's diet and weight plans.

Either way, very nice. I've been working at it for quite a while now. I've cut back on a lot of foods and drinks too (down to one pop a day versus three or so) and I've been a lot more thoughtful on my calorie count. I also joined a gym last month when my progress got stuck and have been slowly whittling away at Fatty McFatty Fat (my nickname I've given myself). I haven't been losing weight lately but I have been losing my gut as I build muscle :D

It's great. One day I'll be a sexy beast...[small]one day...[/small]

My friend told me a lot about eating and such like not eating in morning when you get up and eating before bed is super bad for you so I now eat right and did a little bit of research. It also helps speed up my matabalism which is extremely slow atm but its getting better.

Going to the Gym for a collective total of 10 to 15 hours a week is brutal. Personally, I go to the gym 3 times a week for 45 minutes to an hour at a stretch. Most of my workout comes in the form of fencing or hiking as I actually enjoy both of those activities while the gym is just an extended period of discomfort pursued for no reason save sparing myself discomfort during the activities I actually like. To each their own though - just getting some exercise every day even if it just a half hour walk is a hell of a lot better than doing nothing.

I almost never drink soda anymore which instantly cut something like 600 or so calories out of my diet each day. Cutting that much through solid food alone would be tough going as quantity or variety would quickly suffer.

I know :,(

But it's soooooooooooo tasty :D

It did help a lot though. Cutting pop down alone was my primary weight loss (went from 235 after college to 210). It's something that I am trying to kill completely but the problem I run into is my lack of liking of coffee and teas and water doesn't always cut it at 2pm when it's close to the end of the work day but not quite there yet...

Besides, what's the point of working out and being healthy if I can't have something tasty :p

My employer makes it harder than necessary by having a vending machine that offers a 12 ounce can for a quarter. I can't even buy a store brand can of soda for that price much less an actual delicious Mountain Dew!

YMMV, but one of the two variants of diet coke around and see if it's passable enough for you. I switched to coke zero/pepsi max years ago and I lost quite a few pounds just from that.

If you are one of those who can't stand the taste, oh well, you tried.

(Pre-emptive disclaimer) BTW there is no scientific evidence behind aspartame causing ____(insert cancer, fatness, etc.)(Almost every time I bring it up someone goes "but aspartame causes ___!").

I used to be able to get by doing that too, but for some reason it ain't working this time.

Really sucks and I've been struggling to get rid of the pounds I gained during the previous summer holidays, and honestly I don't get why. On a regular weekday I don't snack nearly as much, eat a lot more fruit, cycle and walk wherever I need to go, went from whole to semi-skimmed milk and replaced all my soft drinks with fruit juices and tea.

And yet my clothes are tighter than ever. My face is still puffy (given, my current cold is not helping with that) and I have a bit of a tummy (though my legs and arms look fine), I have no idea what's going wrong here.

For those of you who are struggling staying away from pop/soda; give flavored carbonated water a try. It's way lower calorie (I know Perrier is 0 calories) and, IMO, tastes pretty good. It's also much more refreshing to me.

Talk to me when you lose 90 pounds like I have. :p

Seriously though, congrats man, and best of luck with hitting your end goal :D

Still got a bit to go myself actually, but yeah, changing soda to stuff like fruit juice made a huge difference. And when I had a fizzy drink that I don't have regularly on my cheat day - I found that it tasted horrible.

Ah, there's nothing quite like the satisfaction of losing some much-needed weight. I used to weigh 292, and I've lost somewhere in the range of 70 pounds in the last 2 and a half years.

I had the lap-band procedure done. For a long time, I dismissed getting it done. I thought that losing weight that way would be a cop-out. Eventually I realized how childish that mindset was. Getting myself healthy became much more important to me than my own personal hangups.

See, a friend of mine has diabetes, and he served as a pretty effective example of what could happen to me if I didn't lose some weight, and soon, since being as overweight as I was put me at risk for diabetes myself.

It was the best decision I've ever made. I look better, I feel better, and I feel better about myself. (I'd probably feel even better about it if I actually hit the gym now and then, but I digress).

Anyways, congratz man. Keep up the good work.

I lost fifty pounds after I tried the paleo diet about six months back. Turns out one of my more acute/severe health problems was the direct result of my system's intolerance for all sugars and grains (which, of course, I only discovered after I tried cutting those things out!).

I still need to lose another forty or fifty pounds, but hey, I think I'll manage it. It was certainly a wonderful gift to finally lose ANY weight, as the health problem that the sugar and grains were causing were basically preventing me from leaving the house, much less exercising even a tiny bit.

When I was researching the paleo diet, the book I'd bought told me that once I'd given up sugar completely for a few weeks, my palate would shift and I wouldn't want it anymore. I was highly skeptical of this claim, but I thought what the hell, I'll give it a go. Turns out the book was dead right. I don't miss sugar at all 99.99% of the time, which is a damn good thing, considering what it does to my system.

The palate shift from giving up sugar also makes a lot of food more delicious than it was; it turns out consuming tons of sugar blunts the palate so that you only like something if it's ridiculously sweet. Even if sugar didn't make me sick, I wouldn't go back; it's just a healthier, better way of eating, and it's delicious too. Granted, I'm having to learn to cook all over again in a lot of ways, but it's completely worth it.
