Since I've heard that it's a great game for challenge seekers and people who love strategic hack-n-slashers.

I like it so far, but the whole "this game will make you cry" scenario hasn't hit me yet. It's fairly easy if you move cautiously or if you're well equipped for a upcoming boss. Yet, there's one boss that I'm stuck on in particular called the Flamelurker and massive amounts of rage have set in.

This boss is cruel, unforgiving and relentless towards anyone attempting to solo it on the first go.

So, does anyone actually still play because I could use a little help on this one.

Soul Arrow will make you happy. Bow and arrow his ass as well.

You will die one on one.

BTW, the cruel heartless shape of the game still awaits you...this I assure you

It's a fantastic game. Join the Demon's Souls wiki forums if you want to get your in-game social networking on.

http://demonssouls.wikidot.com/ will help you with anything demon's souls related and http://demonssouls.wikidot.com/walk2-2-boss is the page for flamelurker, alot of bosses can just be impossible the first few times as you have no idea what to expect and it's so easy to die.

Say no more. I'm at Flamelurker on NG+ and getting my ass handed to me. Maybe I should call in some help as well. Really, Flamelurker, Maneater and Allant were the only enemies I had difficulty with. If you're careful, the game really isn't too difficult. It punishes failure yes, but it's fair.

I used to play, but ended up losing a lot of work I'd done thanks to a glitch. I got stuck in 5-2 or 5-3 and my character couldn't move no matter what so I had to quit the game.

I might have to try again during the holidays.

Flamelurker is a pain, especially once you get into NG+ There are several exploits to use, like hiding behind the ruined rocks at the exit on the back wall and range it to death.

Be forewarned as well, much like FlameLurker, the boss of 3-2 Maneaterhas a tendency to be a massive pain in the ass. (grrr.. Ninja'd)

Kudos for taking on something that needlessly scares off people. Overall its challenging, but its not that hard.

Other, minor suggestion is to try to work on obtaining white tendency for the zone, thus making what damage you do to Flame Lurker that much more impactful.

I've written in a lot of threads about this game, it's my third favourite of all-time. I've beat in numerous times with different characters and it's the only game I've actualyl bothered to get Platinum on, so that should be an indicator on how much I like this game.

Anyway, as for advice, http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.265256-Demons-Souls#10080660 is my post in another thread with some advice in it. As have been mentioned and as I mention in the other thread as well, the Demon's Souls wiki really is a godsend, especially once you get a feel for the mechanics for the game and want to play with tendencies and stuff like that. It's so great in fact, that the guys behind the wiki were hired to write the manual for the European edition.

Oh, and last but not least, if you find that you can't get enough of the game, there's a spiritual sequel coming at the end of this year, called Dark Souls. We already have a group for it http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/Dark-Souls that you're more than welcome to join. We mostly share news about Dark Souls, but most, if not all of the members are competent Demon's Souls players and would be happy to help you.

EDIT:

Honestly my only tip is to either use sticky white stuff on your weapon, water veil or some kind of magic missile.
Heh, this was actually what I wanted to say, after reading the OP, I just forgot it. The easiest way to obtain Sticky White stuff is in world 4-2 just before the Old Hero. There's a underground lair with slugs in it and the Sticky White Stuff drops from them. They add magic damage to your weapon and really helps a lot, seeing as Flamelurker is very vulnerable to that.

4 times I had to beat flame lurker in my first run through, with no magic to speak of.

I don't play any more though since I had everything in the game finished(two of every weapon etc...) except some finished weapon upgrades....bloodsucker and dark moonstone I think.
Also, make sure to level up faith. Magic defense is veeeery helpful later.
