I honestly couldn't get into Dr.Who I watch a full season and a half and nothing happened I could have started from any episode and not been confused in the least. I felt like I was watching the same eps over and over with a few different enemys and a different time period half the time still being the present.

Now don't get my wrong I like the concept of the show and the ideas but honestly it didn't go anywhere... anybody else try to watch it and get the same reaction?

I didn't care for Dr. Who myself, but its the same thing with Buffy the Vampire Slayer- the fanbase is half the fun.
Dr. Who is one of those plot-point-of-the-day, often formulaic shows, so its a love it or hate it thing. This also comes with this weird suspension of belief reset that you go through every episode.

If neither of those appeal to you, then you're prolly not going to like the show. No reasonable fan will say its the most accomplished and polished piece of science fiction in history, but for a lot of people, its tons of fun.
We just aren't the kinds of people the show appeals to. Our loss.

It's not for everyone, not everything is for everyone.

I for one find it brilliant, funny and gripping all at the same time. Fairy obviously by my username, avatar, forum title and dress sense [http://flic.kr/p/9juYLc].

Exactly. The whole concept of time travel in the show is vague and the rules often contradicted, but it's a show about characters, not plot. Saying the same thing happens every time is pretty much true (the earth/universe will be destroyed and the doctor must defeat his opponents through wit, good timing, and alot of luck) but to say "Nothing happens" just isnt true... There are major story arcs that tend only to be focused on (or revealed) at the end of a season.

Gee, I wonder if you- wait, you were on the Old Tardis!? Sarcastic remark canceled.

OT: Yeah, not for everyone. It's quite campy, usually on purpose. But if you can get into it, it'll be the best thing you'll ever see. Except for maybe Firefly, but that too in an acquired taste.

My advice: Watch either "Eleventh Hour", or, "The Doctor's Wife". Both are really good, and should welcome you into the series nicely.

There is continuous storyline, the crack in the universe, WHO IS RIVER (we know now) Amy's pregnancy which the tardis couldn't detect. But its a shame you dont like it.

Yeah dude Doctor Who is not for everyone but could you give us some details like which series did you watch and what your tastes are etc and maybe we can help you out.

Doctor Who is like the Beatles, a lot of content and so diverse that there's probably something you'll like.

I've watched a few episodes and I didn't really care for them. I mean, I thought "Blink" was okay but upon a second viewing I remember seeing a lot of plot holes. I've been exposed to all three of the new doctors and I don't find any of them at all interesting, except maybe 9th. It probably doesn't help that a friend of mine is a ravenous fangirl, since those tend to kill a lot of the interest in things.
I suppose I could try the old Dr. Who, but I don't really want to.

It's a skinny British guy with a bad hair cut roaming around in a telephone booth doing the same stuff every episode, what's not to like?

I'm not a fan and I don't understand the cult of followers the show has around it.

That's cool.

If you ever do get interested try Genesis of the Daleks one of the best stories and a great Doctor. But otherwise no ones judging I can see the dislike.

Feh, fanboys/girls really do ruin everything. I feel sorry for you. The show is really quite good.

Well I used to watch it ever since they had revive it but I stop watching it after season 4. While I would want to explain why I started to dislike it but I know for sure that would enrage some people.

I don't care for it either, I've only seen a few episodes but to me it seems like very generic, lazy sci-fi a heartbeat away from CBBC.

The problem I fond with Dr Who is that it's very inconsistant. Both in tone and in quality. I mean there are some episodes that are some of the best Sci-Fi stuff ever made and then the very next week it'll go to being a really lame sitcom with a guy in a dodgy rubber suit.

Ok, first of all, which episodes were you watching? Secondly, do you watch any other science fiction?

I've never seen it, but the guys at TGWTG won't stop talking about it. All I know about it is:

*Current doctor looks like Neil Cicierega.
*Human Dalek looks like penis.

Although calling Harlan reasonable...
