So this popped up in my recommendations on youtube. It's a bit NSFW:

The TLDW version is that this guys game has been banned from twitch a year ago despite there being games with worse content being allowed. They also won't tell them why either. Just sounds like twitch is trying to be the next YouTube both good and bad.

Yeah, I find it really odd. I hear people talking about this game all the time, online and in real life, it's really popular and yet Twitch still have it banned and wont interact with the developer despite him saying he's willing to work with them and change his game to get un-banned. Personally I hope it doesn't come to changing the game, but this isn't the first time he's talked about Twitch not responding to him.

Hmm not the best delivery overall and the whole "MAYBE IT"S EVIL FEMINISTS!"bit towards the middle was pretty questionable but what's happening to him sounds like straight up bullshit which should be fixed.

I don't watch twitch streams or frankly care about this game but it's just bad business doing a ban and cold shoulder combo and it looks like he might have the clout to force the issues if he makes a big enough public fuss.

Personally, I think it is either incompetence or the person who banned it left the company.

Also, I think Markiplier plays this and if he said something that might change things.

While games like Yandere Simulator aren't my cup of tea, I agree that they shouldn't be banned from a streaming site like Twitch. If Twitch is truly dedicated to their stated policies and criteria, then they need to be consistent and transparent about it.

I think the speculation about SJW's behind it is tilting at windmills. If that were truly the case, they would have gone after more high profile titles like GTA 5 first. The "anti-anime bias" sounds a bit paranoid as well. Let's face it, a fair number of titles on the banned list sound pretty bad from a presumably risk-averse business' standpoint, regardless if they're anime themed or not.

If I were to hazard a guess, this is probably the result of the "simple misunderstanding" and/or "former employee was responsible and nobody knows the reason now" speculations mentioned in the video. It could also be another factor that it did not address;

-Twitch runs an algorithm similar to Youtube's that automatically bans titles that fall under certain criteria. After all, assigning a person or group of people to manually go through every game would be a never-ending task of herculean proportions. I'm sure we've all heard the horror stories by now about Youtube's algorithms fucking over channels (I myself ran afoul of false copyright claims when I still uploaded videos), so it's not too much of a stretch to imagine a similar deal at Twitch.

In the related Reddit thread a former Twitch employee (legit too) plainly writes that Twitch is clearly on a "don't give a shit" -mode and will likely leave the issue as it is.

That's when I stopped watching it. It wasn't really that good until that point but I thought I was near the end when he was at the final point of his, when I saw it was only mid way, I had to stop it. Couldn't endure more.

Yes, the situation is bad, I agree. I agree that Twich has to do something like at least explain their position. However, the guy in the video did not really come across as "the reasonable side", either. Let's see:

1. He went "gee my game was banned alongside THESE CHERRY PICKED FEW, therefore they MUST think it's the same game". Even though there are clearly more types of games in that list and it doesn't have to be the same as the ones he focused.
2. He brought up individual aspects of the game that were present in other games, justifying them one by one, when I could very well see the collection of them (or few) that might be causing the problem.
3. He complained that Twitch employees were annoyed with him pestering them. Which, he pretty much did, since it seems he contacted a lot of them.
4. The complaint about "they don't like anime" was pretty nonsensical. The overexaggarated little strawman for it was also pretty cringe-worthy.
5. The "Twitch wants to make money? GET ME THERE AND I'LL MAKE THEM MONEY" point felt somewhat tasteless and came off as more bragging than an actual point "Look, ma, I've got a million subscribers!".
6. The "es-jay-dubbyas did it!" bit was when I just stopped caring.

Again - yeah, it sucks. But the guy didn't really came over as very likeable and I am wondering what part of Twitch's reluctance to help him comes from that.

The guy does deal with a lot of harassment. I would imagine it's taken a toll on him. Also his 6th point sounds like the one that everyone agrees with. Where a employee banned it and left the company so now no one knows what to do.

Either way I wouldn't be suprised if he only said "SJW's are behind it" just to get as many people as possible to hear his plight.

Should it be surprising? Twitch has a policy that they don't want adult games on it. (Maybe it is a impossible standard given the majority of games out today, but bla.)

Yeah, he came across as a robot for the first half and some paranoid asshole in the second half. Also pointing out those other games doesn't make sense to me. I wouldn't want Twitch to have a checklist of things to ban games for, I would rather it be a judgement call that takes into account the entire game and the context and what not

Still i Don't blame him too much because I think Twitch should at least tell him why they banned his weird little game

Well, that's ten minutes of my life I won't be getting back.

I liked the part where he went on a paranoid rant with zero evidence in a voice that makes me want to scrub my own eardrums.

Possiblity #7: His game looks like Steam Greenlight trash?

Most M-rated games aren't adult games.
