I finally got Ghost Recon on PC and I'm pissed

Really not sure where to even start with this. Ghost Recon Future Soldier was a game that really caught my attention. The demo looked realistic and impressive, I was excited to see more. Then comes the release date information and I look forward to seeing it. But no, turns out that release is only for consoles, pc users must wait for over a month.

The reasoning they gave was because it needed 'extra special tweaking' since it's on the PC which I instantly called bullshit on. They just wanted pc users to get tired of waiting and just go for the console version so they can have more control over the player. And you'd think that a game which needed this much tweaking wouldn't be such a goddamn mess.

The game for me is almost unplayable, I couldn't last 5minutes with something I payed full price on and waited so long to actually get my hands on. It's just such a poorly optimised port that it's unbearable.
Theres no offline single player only multiplayer lobbies that you just go into alone if you don't want to do campaign with anyone else but yourself. And I swear, this resulted in me lagging. Maybe it was really just that bad of a port but my mouse had a visable 1-2 second lag. I couldn't even save the game! At least it wasn't on the pause menu. I'm really not going into any kind of detail but that's just because I barely know what to mention due to my current rage. I want a refund so badly (I have almost 200 games and this is the only one I want refunded) but according to steam my chance was during the months of pre-order waiting.

I've heard of rare exceptions where you can get refunded after the game is officially released but it just sounds like so much hassle.

I guess my only response from all of this is fuck you Ubisoft... I've heard you were hated by many but I always kind of liked what you made. The DRM never even bothered me that much. But this is just a lazy port, and one which should get pulled off the shelves until actual time is put into it.

I can run Skyrim on high settings perfectly, but in order for me to even reach that ~26 fps I need to play a game to not tear my head out, I have to play the game on the lowest possible f*cking resolution because ubisoft doesn't know how to make graphical options. It doesn't even make my screen smaller, it conforms to my 26 inch moniter, making the game look like a pixilated mess. There isn't even a windowed option, which is fucking barbaric. The load times suck, it takes me 2 minutes just to get back to the main menu after quiting the game. I actually quite like the gameplay, despite its terrible looks.

I have recently bought 2 Ubisoft games on PC, I love them both, but I hate how they make games. They just do little things that piss me off. There isn't a save game option in either (Assasin's creed II and Future Soldier), and I hate having to find a time when it's convienent for the game to save.
That just annoys me more than anything.

Wow. I expected that this was gonna be something about it being disappointing, but this is f***ing bad. Ubisoft needs to be held legally accountable for this, it's simply not good enough, no arguments.

I heard it's absolutely awful, yeah. One of the youtubers I like has pretty much the best pc you can get, it's godlike. He was getting 30-40 frames.

You actually try contacting Steam support yet? I hear they can be pretty awesome sometimes. It's worth a shot

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that apparently the specs of the computer affect how it plays.

While it may have been unplayable for you, I am getting a steady 40+ fps at 1440x900 (screens natural rez) on medium settings with an AMD A8-3820 and a 4870x2.

I bought it this morning and have not had a single problem with it, so far no crashes, no fps drops. So I am assuming that there is something about your rig that the game just does not like.

So yeah, uh, tough luck I guess, the fact that it doesn't work for you does suck.

Wow. I'm pleased I got this on xbox. That is pretty shoddy.
That's why I'm glad to have both consoles and a PC. Some games I prefer on Xbox (Assassin's Creed, Batman etc) and some on PC (Skyrim, Total War etc).

But more on topic that is really bad. I hope they do something about it.

And Ubisoft wonders why PC gamers pirate their games. It's because they can't get a refund in case it doesn't work properly. And with their track record on PC, it's pretty justified to think that it won't work properly. Of course they're gonna pirate it first.

Your mouse doesn't lag because you're playing online, you have input lag because of the graphic settings. Lower the settings and try again. Unfortunately, there's no way to change the settings in-game (which sucks, no reason not to) so you have to edit the settings, go in-game and if you're not happy, exit, change again, go in-game again etc.

You're playing offline locally if you're playing alone. If you want to "make sure" you are, just force offline on the launcher (settings > force offline).

You can't save, the game use auto-saving, which happens very, very often so you don't have to play the whole level again. Pretty much saves before and after each fight.

It is a bad port, but it is very much playable and enjoyable for me. I haven't had a single problem with the game yet and are enjoying both the campaign and guerilla mode with three friends. Ubisoft still sucks with all the fuzz about different versions for retail and Steam which means patch incompatibilities with online play and lost connections and such.

What's wrong with that? 24 FPS is the standard for film and television.

Because it's different in video games.

I just started up Fraps and according to it I have a steady 60-63 FPS. Never went below 60 FPS. And I do NOT have the "best PC you can get", I've got an i5 3550, 8GB 1600MHz RAM and a 570 GTX.

Everything on highest settings except "Volumetric light" which is on medium. No motion blur (because I hate motion blur). Running at 1920x1080.

You know what is funny? The unpatched version that was leaked a week before release was smooth as silk. No mouse lag, the frame rate didn't chug along. . .good job Ubi.

I swear they do this on purpose, just to make up shit about pirates.

Because video games aren't film and television. You can tell the difference between 60 and 100 frames, because you're actually in control. Do you play PC games at all?

My game runs fine on 1.2 but my main issue is that i'm having to use a controller because the mouse is so slow i can't play with it (it's even horrible on the menu), and the worst part is theres no mouse sensitivity option and you can't even access the options while in game.

Oh and apart from the team, the AI is terrible, i die ALOT from enemies just running up to me and shooting me while i was behind cover. The mouse sensitivity and the AI is the reason i find myself only able to play for a few hours if that in one go.

There are suiciders in real life too. Blame yourself for not being enough aware of your surroundings, you should have shot that guy/those guys before they reached your cover.

And yes, you can change mouse sensitivity. It's in the options menu.

Not being able to change options in-game is annoying though, that I agree with.

Yep. I don't think I'd tell the difference, to be honest. I don't really play shooters much but I've got an average PC and got along fine with Crysis 2 and Metro 2033. I haven't upgraded for 4 years and I'm running new games perfect with no problem. So I don't get all the fuss about frame-rates. I'm just saying, if I can watch space battles and action scenes in movies without the impression of it looking "absolutely awful", games should be fine too.
