Well online friends. So I need help. Where are some good sites to meet people online? I am not looking for dating or anything like that. Any tips?

I think you should make a thread about it and have interviews with potential friends similar to what you find in a job interview.

It would be more efficient and streamlined in today's fast paced world.

The escapist?

I'd probably recommend playing an online game to find friends. It might be hard to do at times, but I found several of my closest friends on Guild Wars.

Chatroulette. Try it!

Seriously though, if you play games then join a guild/faction in an MMO, or start playing on some server regularly. I've got about 50 friends on Steam, 10 of which I know in real life. Loads of them I met playing Team Fortress 2, and since then I've played BFBC2, mods, WoW, Starcraft II and so on, with a lot of them.

Since you specified meeting people online, I'll throw in online services like Steam and the like.

I've met a lot of really cool people just by being sociable in games.

Edit: And, of course, this site is a great way to meet people as well.

Eh. Just post, maybe join some usergroups, start talking, and you'll make some friends in no time!

Try joining a usergroup, particularly one with few members but which is fairly active, so you get to know them.

I have heard great things about a website called "outside"
Yeah, sounds great. I prefer my online friends to my RL friends.

Get into some User Groups or start PMing people.

I dunno about friends, but if you want to meet incredibly irksome people, you could always check out Gaiaonline.com.

Well, what are your intrests, quirks, and whatnot? Try checking the related usergroups and hand-picking a few people you like. I've met all my online friends on this site by pure (yet always R&C-related) accident.

Don't worry about it. "Online friends" is an oxymoron as far as I'm concerned.

You're not really friends with someone if you've never seen them.

I thought this was going to be a discussion over the South Park episode with the title "You Have 0 Friends" and about it's interpretations about face-book etc. Fine. Find a club with your interests at your school/ library. In fact 80% of my real life friends came from a game club that took place weekly at the local library. Wait *runs to get some rocky road*. Oh online friends, well I know most of us escapists don't bite :p.

funny, i have the opposite problem. i have maybe one friend IRL, but tons of them online.

just find a site to be a part of and make yourself known. Most of my OL friends are on a small (30-40) member site. Just find a place that you like and get your name out there!
