Is there some sort of problem with that? I don't really get what your complaint is... maybe you should elaborate.

In all seriousness, he looks creepy.
Reminds me of a 'certain' teacher we had at school.

The slicked-back hair just doesn't do it for me.

My problem is with the texture of this costume, it's not sheer like it should be, but oddly scaly like the Sam Raimi Spiderman outfit, plus, that S is HUGE

Considering that Zach Snyder's at the helm, I think we do have some reason to be hopeful. While there are those who disagree, I feel like Watchmen was a text book example of how to translate nearly impossible comic book material to screen. If he takes some of the established Superman cannon (especially if he draws on some of Geoff John's work) and brings his usual magic touch, we could be in for a real treat.

I agree I think hes a fantastic director so as long as they have good directors paired with him it should be good.

OT: I really dont see whats wrong with the costume I prefer the "scaly" look makes the suit look like it wouldnt just fall off or rip off. The sheer looks silly in my opinion I just wouldnt be able to take him seriously makes him look like a stuffed animal tbh.

Because Sucker Punch was considered shit by most of mainstream media, Chris Nolan worked on the script and is producing so the movie does not end up being complete shit

To be fair, considering the complexity of Watchmen, I think it was a pretty decent film.

The concept of Sucker Punch is absolute genius it just didn't translate well to most of the viewers and came across more like a Japanese anime fans wet dream (referring to outfits as worn by the lasses).

Back to topic.

I had really high hopes for the last Superman movie which left me feeling incredibly disappointed. That led me to ask my above question.

I'm hoping, with following the line the recent Batman movies took .... they really did improve a hell of a lot on the original movies, that this one keeps up that trend.

Superman as a story deserves a good film, i'll even go as far as saying the original films with Christopher Reeve were pretty decent for their time. I even enjoyed Smallville (although NOT the new adventures of Superman).

I just hope they do a decent job.

Hold up. Being considered shit by most of the mainstream media, and genuinely being shit, are too very different things. Sucker Punch was a smart movie with depth dressed up as a mindless genre film. The fact that the mainstream media couldn't see past the genre trappings to what it actually was says a lot more about them than it does about Zach Snyder.

Not that I don't understand, Snyder's first two films were little more than genre trappings around a hollow shell. A fact which was particularly disappointing in the case of his Dawn of the Dead remake, considering the depth of the original.

But Snyder really turned it around with Watchmen. And Sucker Punch, the first film he's made not based on some other property, was unfairly burdened by the weight of his first two films. People go into his films looking for empty spectacle, but he's proven that he's capable of delivering a hell of a lot more than that. Besides, isn't looking past the genre trappings a large part of what we do here at the Escapist? Seeing the depth in things that are overlooked by the mainstream media?

If anything, it's Christopher Nolan's involvement worries me. Nolan's latest big film, Inception, was nothing but empty spectacle. A "smart for Hollywood" film that never took the chance to latch onto the big ideas that could've made it something more than a movie the average Hollywood viewer could convince themselves they were intelligent for having some passing understanding of. Not only that, Nolan's insistence on bringing some semblance of realism to comic book films is something that really troubles me. Not only has it stood in the way of a potential Justice League film, but it's also deprived the Batman series of some of the best members of the rogues gallery. Don't get me wrong, I have enjoyed his Batman films, but I'd hate to see Nolan's kind of gritty and frequently boring palette drain the Superman series (or any other potential DC films) of some of the magic it's capable of. Just because his style happened to sync well with Batman doesn't mean he actually knows what he's doing when it comes to superhero films.

i should have been more clear. Im not saying suckerpunch was a bad movie, quite the opposite. It suffered the same problem scott pilgram did where they appealed solely to the geek/nerd demographic. My point was that warner brothers was not pleased by the fact the movie mostly got bad reviews and barely made back its budget. They employed nolan so those things would not happen again. All warner brothers care about is making more money
