Gods and Kings expansion. And when I say I beat it, I mean I really beat it! :D

I was playing against max (22) opposing Civs on was a duel sized world (smallest), tiny island setup, no other special rules. Had a good but not perfect starting spot. Played Egypt.

I was behind almost all of the game, but won some huge wars and then nuked the shit out of the civ that was going to win (Greece). Then outraced all the others to space (just barely, I think I won by about 2-3 turns).

Could not be happier--one of the greatest video game feats of my life. If you've ever tried Deity, you know what I mean (it's almost impossible, though I m sure some l33t kids will now tell me how easy it is!).

Woooooot!!!

I need a shower ...

Very impressive, I have to admit I pretty much only play on standard difficulty or one up at the most. I just don't find that kind of difficulty fun when instead of more intelligent opponents they just get serious buffs while you get nerfed.

I dont have a clue what you are on about but it sounds impressive have +5 internet points. Congratulations. I remember some of my achievements and no-one gave a shit damn them made me realise they are worthless except to the value you hold to them yourself.

That sounds absolutely insane. I am glad to hear you nuked the hell out of Greece, Alexander is such an asshole in that game. Congrats!

8 difficulty levels:

Settler, ??, warlord, prince, king, emperor, immortal, deity.

To get an idea of how hard it is, the AI starts with 8 technologies headstart, 2 settlers (you get one), 3 warriors, (you get one), 2 workers (you get none), and so much extra production they can pump out 1 unit a turn when you take 3/4.
Yep! When you start a game on a really small map and end up right beside them, you realize how huge the headstart really is right off the bat, too.

I've had many perfect or close-to-perfect starting spots on Deity, but always end up losing to a civ (or two, or three) that jump out so far ahead they cannot be caught (seeing them hit the industrial era while you just discovered how to do math is awesome).

That was going to happen in this game too, but I nuked Greece and fended off the inevitable work war to follow. Had to nuke Greece twice (4 atomic bombs total) and still beat them by maybe 2-3 turns.

That's the other thing about Deity--at some point almost every opposing civ will declare war on you simultaneously (or close to it). It happened to me 3 times in this game, and each time I thought I was toast. So you have to have a large, well organized army in place in addition to competing in science, gold, culture, etc.

Anyway, even after 4 nukes, Greece STILL had a civ score of about 2600 while I was at 1800 or so at the game's end (I was actually 4th in civ score). They discovered the tech to build the final spaceship part a turn ahead of me, but my capital built the part slightly faster.

I was absolutely sweating bullets during those last few turns!!!

Its not an RTS... its turn based

OT: Congrats, the best I can do is normal difficulty which is prince or king I believe where you get no buffs and neither does your opponent AIs

Congratulations, here's what you win!

Although I've never actually tried deity. Am yet to get Gods and Kings too, seems like a high price for an expansion.

The best game I ever played in Civ V was winning a science victory in less then 200 turns. Normal difficulty, standard pace and normal resources.

My start in that game could not have been better, my own small temperate continent with 3 friendly city-states on it. I pretty much sat there the whole game with 2-3 military units ever in place. It was even better because during the whole game, every civilization was making fun of my military, but near the end of the game as they were building their first frigates I rolled out 3 carriers and instantly became the military power in the world. More power then all the Civs combined. Then everyone changed their tone. All of a sudden they want research agreements and such.

Totally worth it. The AI, combat, and diplomatic systems get a complete over haul. Plus a totally new eras worth of units, spies, religion, and 9 new Civs.

So far its been worth every penny.

Nice going. The few times I've tried I've gotten hammered one step up from normal.

Congrats, I'm currently working on a cultural victory on the second to hardest setting as Ethiopia, the massive culture boost it provides as well as the benefits for playing a reasonably small civ are huge when you're pretty much expecting to be playing catch-up for most of the early game.

Am planning on doing Deity at some point, probably ethiopia as well as I doubt I'll be able to get more than one or two cities built before I'm completely surrounded by the Mongols or Romans, that's always fun.

How did you prevent them from simply crushing you in the beginning?

Can you tell I don't play them often?
My bad.

if you can do a larger map with only a few opponents with very little water.... that would be impressive
The naval AI is now the smartest the Civ 5 AI gets. You can lose all of your coastal cities to a surprise naval attack.
