Just to get this immediately out of the way, I didn't watch all of them. Here's what I was able to get:
Castle of Cagliostro, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Castle in the Sky, My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, Princess Mononoke, and Spirited Away.

Also, I skipped over Grave of the Fireflies (for now) because while Hayao Miyazaki was involved in it (I think), he wasn't the writer-director like he was for the others. This was for Miyazaki, not Ghibli; hence Cagliostro and Nausicaa.

Do you ever listen to the shipping forecasts?
I didn't even know it was a thing until now.

I've become mildly curious. As a human interest thing.

Do you not think that it's kind of cheating to call it a month of Miyazaki, when you haven't watched all of them?

I mean, I watched "the Wind Rises" a while back, but I wouldn't have called that a month of Miyazaki.

I was trying to watch them all. Didn't make it.

Besides, Toonami only showed four films during theirs.

For the love of god, it's not Castle in the Sky, it's Laputa: Castle in the Sky. You have the PC police at Disney to thank for that bastardisation

For the love of god, it's just Laputa! That's all it says in the opening.
You wanna be anal? I can play that game. "Castle in the Sky Laputa" is the full literal Japanese title, just so both of you are aware.

Also, while we're being anal, it's not Princess Mononoke, it's Mononoke-hime. Princess Monster/Spirit doesn't make any sense. There is no one named Mononoke in the movie. Monster/Spirit Princess (Mononoke-hime) DOES make sense. Miramax didn't get it.
I'm just going with the titles as they were given to me. As long as we're talking about the same movie, and it's obvious we're talking about the same movie, then that's good enough.

Are you annoyed that the thread devolved into naming disputes?

Guess you can say it was a Month of Era 1 Miyazaki, but still better in movie count than the namesake.

I would say the same thing to Toonami then.

So, what stopped you watching all of them?

And I suppose, an actual Miyazaki question - which is the best soundtrack (were you listening to the subs or dubs versions)?

Just a little.

I watched the subs for all of them, and though it wasn't my favourite as an overall package, Spirited Away definitely had the best soundtrack choices. Also, it was time more than anything; I wasn't just watching movies all month.

What are your opinions on his characters and how they are written?
Honestly, I feel like he has a better grasp of how kids work than most people. Even his teenaged characters like Nausicaa are capable, but they still have limits emotionally. Though speaking of Nausicaa,

the whole 'Jesus' bit put me off right at the end.

That isn't the title card.

This is the title card.

The Japanese text reads 天空の城ラピュタ so you can put that in GT.

Are we done?

Fair enough. I have seen the subs and dubs for certain ones, and massively prefer the subs soundtrack-wise.

Not sure what I'd go for soundtrack wise, but I found Grave of the Fireflies sticks with me the most. Mainly because of the gut-punch feeling at the ending.

Good thing you did. Dubs in Miyazaki movies have a nasty habit of adding dialoge where there is none. The dub of Kiki's Delivery Service even has a different thematic ending due to a certain character speaking in the end.
