and why does everyone think it is great? Sure the visual effects were okay but the bad script and acting just ruined it for me

I didn't like it. Sure a few of them were easy on the eyes. Still a weak flick. Coming from a guy who likes women.

Sweet Dreams. Marilyn Manson did it better though...

I haven't seen it. So it's totally not work my time or money? Except for the OST?

Was it just the bad writing that killed it?

Does anyone except MovieBob think it's great, really?

Still, I liked it, despite it's horrible pretentiousness.

Yeah, not many people liked Suckerpunch.

I try as hard as I can to like Zack Snyder as a director, but when I walked out of that theater, something died in me.

It wasn't bad (It's one of my favorites), it just is not what it appears. It's very deep, but it's all deep. If you don't want to go down and get the story, you will just see it as a sequence of music videos.

Suckerpunch sucked!

Apart from the hot girls and the cool visual effects the whole movie was silly and made no freaking sense. I didnt even like the music that much because it was far too loud at the cinemas and kind of distracted from the action.

I got to the point where she went into that bordello fantasy and turned it off, I was so lost cuz they didn't explain what had happened at all. Really stupid move on the director's part

Writing, Acting, Direction, and the whole having all the main characters in Japanese schoolgirl outfits made me feel like the movie was marketed to the worst sterotype of teenagers and nerds

I adored the crap out of it. The "twist" was a bit ham-handed, but I followed the emotional curve it wanted me to, and I thought the effects and script were fantastic. I also liked the acting, but I suck at critiquing acting.

I liked the multiple layers it had. I also liked the mindscrew that caused. :p

I REALLY liked how I had to pay attention to follow what was happening (it wasn't as hard as people think it was).

I liked it because I was able to follow the storyline and know what was actually going on.
Also, the ending where the guy actually does the operation and essentially kills the girl, was a huge surprise for me. I had forgotten completely that she was in that place!
Yes it could have been better, and yes it isn't the best made movie of all time, but I'd watch it again.

Actually, I liked the whole thing because it was entertaining.... How did you know that I would like it and that my opinion differs from yours, but since it differs only your opinion is truth.

It was well in both action, the story was just captivating enough for me to sit through it and had some good music. Overall, the package wasn't bad.

Moviebob is also a guy who thinks that Watchmen was a brilliant movie. To me it was pure shit with pointless violence added where it wasn't needed.

I liked it.

My opinion isn't based on the marketing (You don't judge a movie by it's advertising, that's just dumb) or on preconceived gender-issue agendas (It's not supposed to be a 'Hey the girls all win yay' story) but simply for what it was; it was a girl who used escapism in order to fight against her horrifying situation.

If you look at it as a character study of a girl going from one form of abuse, to another, it becomes very disturbing and interesting. Alot of my enjoyment of it was trying to sort out what the layers of madness meant in terms of what was actually happening.

As for it being hard to follow; what? She's pretending to be in a brothel awaiting 'the high roller' rather than in a sanitarium awaiting a lobotomy. Once you buy that premise, that she's using her sexuality to fight rather than simply wasting away... then the third layer makes sense... of a victim of sexual abuse fighting using the only method she knows.

On one hand, it's a exploitation film.
On the other, it's got a giant bunny mech.
Really, though, it depends on how much you like to disregard the apparent quality in favor of the possible meaning underneath. Some people see it as a rich psychological thing, some don't.
I kinda liked it, but it was a little off for me.
