I kind of feel sorry for PS3 CoD players right now.

Right now, multiplayer CoD on PS3 is an absolute shambles. Modders have overrun MW and MW2, to the point where it is nearly impossible to find a clean game. Players are finding themselves thrust into unplayable matches, where care packages rain from the sky, desert eagles shoot nukes and people move at super speed. Worse, players are finding their stats reset, their hard-won unlocks removed, their ranks zeroed out. And players can't quit from those games, because the in-game pause menu has been disabled.

The thing that gets me about this whole situation isn't the existence of the hacks and mods, but rather Infinity Ward's response (or lack thereof) to them. They've basically thrown up their hands and said "it's Sony's fault." While there is plenty of blame to pass around, I think the lion's share of it lies squarely on IWs shoulders. They failed to implement basic security protocols to ensure legit players are not affected by mods, and now they are seeing the results of that failure.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is, right now, if I owned a copy of MW2 on PS3 (which I don't; I own it on 360) I would be enraged, because right now the multiplayer portion of the game is borderline unplayable. As it is, all I can do is comisserate with my PS3 brethren.

Its pretty bad here on the 360 but at least we got some patches. Thats bullshit and I do fell sorry for the PS3 CoD players. How is Black Ops? Played a few matches on the PS3 and it played better.

I think that there was a similar problem with modders back when I played Halo 2. I knew this guy who just modded his entire game, even to the point of making warthogs fly, and an infinite ammo, automatic fire, tracking brute shot, that only he had. Yeah, he got banned within a week.

The 360 version of MW and MW2 was, for a time, also suffering from the same kinds of mods. It never got quite as bad as it is now on PS3, but certainly for a time it was pretty bad. I quit the game in frustration several months ago because of the then-rampant cheating.

However, the Kinect update for Xbox 360 largely put an end to it. Hopefully a similar update for PS3 will help in that regard. But I still lay the blame on IW, because it is their failure that made MW and MW2 as hackable as they are.

Black Ops is fine; Treyarch took the time to secure their game, so while it occasionally gets modders, Treyarch usually has them banned and their stats reset within hours. And this is true on both PS3 and 360.

While it seems Black Ops on PS3 has lag issues [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/107062-Activision-Confirms-it-Could-Kill-PS3-Black-Ops-Servers-But-Says-it-Wont] I don't think that is a huge deal compared to the rampant modding going on in MW and MW2.

I went on my rush made account that I almost never used and got into about 10 perfectly normal games on MW2, infact I dominated them. Not one instance of raining care packages, auto aiming bots, sped up players, no reloads etc etc etc. If I am being honest I noticed a lack of them, I remember there always being a harrier or chopper up above, in those games there was one or two a game.

Remember, COD has alot of kids playing who are so used to getting there own way they don't like it when they lose so some of them are probably just jumping on the band wagon.
