Hello everybody. i just finished college and I bored out of my mind!! I am set for games but I really need a book/books to read. Among my favourites are The Dresden files (have all 12 and I know about the 13th in a month) which is about a moden day wizard fighting evil, Codex Alera which is a bit like lord of the rings, Night Angle trillogy is a fantasy type book.

So any suggestions you might have would really help me out. Thanks in advance.

Just finished reading Codex Alera myself. Incredible series which I found myself utterly addicted to.

My reccomendations would be:

The First Law Trilogy by Joe Abercrombie, but I warn you that the end of the series is just crushingly depressing.

Anything by Neil Gaiman, my personal favourites being Neverwhere and The Graveyard Book.

Anything by Brandon Sanderson, especialy if you like highly unique magic systems. The Mistborn Trilogy is great, and you can read his book Warbreaker for free from his website.

The Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb.

A Song of Ice and Fire By George RR Martin. Like The First Law Trilogy it can get very depressing at times, but if you don't mind that and if you can keep track of the labyrinthine plot and hundreds of characters you should enjoy it greatly. It's definitely one of the best series that I've ever read.

I could recommend a whole bunch of books, but I'm only going to recommend John Dies at the End. I've read that book atleast a dozen times since I've gotten it.

Any of the 7(8) Artemis Fowl books. They are brilliantly written and endlessly re-readable.

Wheel of Time pretty much feels like the "standard" recommendation. The series is just absolutely amazing.

How about Introduction to Graph Theory by Douglas West?

Oh, I'm sorry. Were you looking for fiction?

I read a series a while ago called "The Dragonlance Chronicles". It's a pretty good fantasy series, but it was a while ago so I'm not sure where you might find it. I mostly read classic literature myself, but I was once into fantasy. I could name a few nameless books with fantasy themes I read as a kid, but yeah.

PS: I've still got the Dragonlance Chronicles in my bottom drawer, I might start reading them again.

I'd recommend picking up any of the MTG Series, some of them are really good. If you go with that I'd recommend the Kamigawa cycle, Mirrodin cycle, or Ravinca cycle

If you like Stephen King, I can recommend "Under the Dome". It's a giant, 1400 pages or something like that. It's really good though, it's on my top-10 list of books (and I've read a lot of books).

It's about a small town that suddenly gets cut off by a mysterious imprenetable dome. Then we folow the lifes of the towns inhabitants, and how things drastically change over time, mostly due to a corrupt mayor that sees the opportunity to become a freaking tyrant.

I myself have recently been reading Euclid's "The Elements". A bit dry but a true classic in mathematical literature.

Seriously, I have no idea what you meant by this post.

If you've got some time (and loose money) I absolutely recommend the Cirque du Freak series and the Demonata series, both written by Darren Shan. CdF is 12 books long, and Demonata is 10, so you definitely have to make an investment to read them, but they're absolutely worth it to the end.

Any of the Flashman books by George MacDonald-Fraser.

It's fiction based heavily on historical events, following an Officer in the British Army during the Victorian era as he travels the world.

The twist is he's a total asshole, cheats on his wife, is a coward, a racist and a bully. But at the same time it's all totally hilarious (it's pretty much comedy) over the top and fun, as well as pretty informative about the period.

May I suggest Discworld? All of it. First five or six books are less good, admittedly.

Also, Jonathan Strange&Mr.Norrell is absolutely amazing, if a bit slow to start. I can elaborate on either if you like.

I'll second the recommendations for the Kamigawa and Ravnica trilogies, both are enormously entertaining to read.

OT: I'm not really well-versed in the realm of fantasy novels, but I've heartily enjoyed the occasional Discworld book by Terry Pratchett.
