Hi fellow escapists,

Anyone who read my topic about Lucky Star know about what happened when I introduced the series to my schools anime club (big WTF). Anyway, it's my turn again to pick an anime an all the ones I think of have been done. So far we've watched:

Lucky Star
Squid Girl (bigger WTF)
Gundam seed
Bleach
Naruto
One Piece
Gurren Lagann
Death Note
Fruit Basket
Anzumanga Diaoh
Shuffle (that was awkward)
Original Pokemon (fuck yeah)
Highschool of the Dead
Are you a Zombie? (freaking awesome)

The list goes on but basiclly we have watched a lot of the popular mainstream animes. So I throw my hand to you fellow escapists. What are some anime I can bring to our anime club? I really don't want some big manly fighting or half naked questionable girls, i'm more looking for something funny and really........."japanesey" (besides the manly fights and naked girls).

I've gotta head off to school and do some silly environmental science test but when I come back I expect some answers........please.

I will say Macross.

Mecha is Japanese-sy. Mecha is cool.

Granted, the main ones you'll see that is released outside of Japan is the original 80's series and the 4 part mini series Macross Plus. DEFINITELY look into Macross Plus, though Funny wouldn't be the word.

Proper suggestion though would be to try Love Hina. Somehow the opening credits just seem to set the tone of the series pretty well.

Tsk tsk. Let's not be introducing them into that genre just yet.

Code Geass, Baccano!, Natsume Yuujinchou, Spice and Wolf, and you can't go wrong with Hetalia.

Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood is where? Get out of here and go start it now if you haven't.

Otherwise I'll throw in some additional support for Code Geass. It's a very interesting one if you can get behind it.

Spice and Wolf is an interesting show. Given the choice between wolfgirl fanservice and a discussion of pre-industrial economics, it'll choose the economics almost every time. And yet it remains a fascinating and exciting show. Watch it.

Something a little different from what you've watched: Ouran High School Host Club. A sort of piss take of the shojou anime and the tropes the genre often uses. Good story, fun characters and you will laugh your arse off the whole way through.

Second that on Macross. The story is pretty good and maturely told.

I'd also recommend Initial D if you want something anime that's 'normal' and has accurate racing terms (to the best of my knowledge).
