Basically, I'm looking for a game. A game that can get me hooked and keep me hooked. But not any game. I'm in the mood for a city building/management but also has a lot of RTS/combat involved. Something like ANNO 2070 but with much more fighting. I don't mind if there's a massive difficulty curve, in fact it will probably get me more addicted.

PLEASE HALP!

(This is like my 7th "I need [insert genre] game." thread... I'm ashamed.)

Caesar III?
I prefer Grand Ages Rome to Caesar III (although both are classics).

Or you could always... you know... Black and White 2, if your into that sorta thing.

See, I did really like black and white as a kid but it's not really what I'm looking for. I mean the sort of game which is like SimCity/Tropica/etc. but with RTS style warfare against enemy nations? I hope it exists!!! ><

I will look at both Caesar 3 and Grand Ages Rome however.

There is a game known as Savage2 that combines pvp with simcity you might be interested. its quite esoteric with only about hundred people playing it but its a good game.

Hmm... Perhaps Stronghold 1+2? Those have you both building a castle, and fighting enemies. Sounds like what you are looking for. Beyond that, I got nothing. Not very knowledgeable when it comes to PC strategy/economy games...

Savage 2? The RTS-FPS hybrid? Not likely to be what he's looking for, laddie.

On topic:
I'd honestly suggest you look at the earlier Settlers titles. While #7 is relatively combat-free, #s 5 and 6 were considered to pretty much occupy the intersection you describe here - city-building and combat.

If you fancy going back a pace, Immortal Cities: Children of the Nile is a brilliant next step for the city-building genre in general. It's slow, and not very combat-focused, but worth playing nonetheless. If you want to try something off-board a bit, the Stronghold series might suit (just stay away from the third incarnation; last I heard it had more bugs than that one third-rate insect-themed shooter that came out a while back)

Rise of Nations is more RTS than city-builder, but it does emphasize resource management somewhat more than others of its ilk, so it might suit.

And then we've pretty much reached the limit of this modern era. Just about anything in this list [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chronology_of_city-building_video_games] might be worth looking at; have fun!

Why hasn't Total War been brought up? It's more empire building than city building but it seems a pretty major elephant in the room.
