Hello fellow Escapists, I need your help. I have a big fight coming up and I need to lose a stone to make weight. However, I have been on a diet for 2 months and I have done an hour extra work out per day and nothing is working.
Anyone got any tips?

EDIT - a stone is 14 pounds.

What has your diet consisted of? Just saying you've been on a diet doesn't help us, different diets are more or less affective.

Focus on cardiovascular exercise like running, rather than muscle building? That would keep you fit without weight gain (compared to pumping iron anyway)

Good luck with the fight!

I have cut out protein and carbs. Ive basically been eating salad and I have lost close to nothing.

Wowza, that is quite a bit. If you haven't tried Slim fast it worked for me in the short term, lost about 20 pounds in 3 weeks.

Mind you, I am pretty Big (6'2 and 270) so it will of course vary with your weight. Also, I would not guarantee this at all for long term, the results begin dropping off pretty quick once your body start acclimatizing to the lesser calorie intake.

Drink lots of water. Don't drink (beer), go very slow on sugar and if you smoke, keep it up :)

Cut out carbs for a quicker weight drop. It won't last unless you keep it up and low-carb eating can be tricky. Change up your exercise routine if you're not already doing so. Confuse your muscles - don't let them get used to a routine. They're ornery buggers and learn fast.

By salad do you mean just vegetables? If you're using any dressing that could of course be a problem, any processed foods are a big impediment to losing weight. If not, I'm afraid I don't know how to help you. The truth is that people who are dieting often hit a wall after which point it just becomes extremely difficult to lose weight.

Okay, as sad as this sounds: Go on the weight watcher's website and find out how many "Points" you're allowed and how it's calculated. Meeting you point quota is to maintain your current weight. go far below the point quota and you should be able to lose some weight. It's worked for me and a few friends.

Also, as said, cardio exercises, make sure you don't build more muscle weight

All answers are pretty much meaningless without some form a time frame. If you need to lose 14 lbs. in a week, there are no healthy options.

Yes sorry, just vegetables. I know what you mean about hitting a wall but I can't understand it because I used to be this weight last year. Thanks for your help tho, I appreciate it.

Well then, looks like we have to do the drastic. Got a scalpel, some medical tubing, a bucket, and a friend willing to help?

what is your current weight in pounds? height, and what is your daily average activity level (not counting workouts) Do you work a desk job, construction, are you in school, do you walk/to from, or drive, etc.
