"I thought you were bigger..." Anticlimatic Bosses

So, this thread is about bosses who couldn't live up to the expectations, be it their uselesness in battle, their appearence or their boring/stereotyped/ridiculous plans.

Some Examples:
Yesterday, I finished Gears Of War 2 on my friends Xbox360. I didn't expect the story to exceed b-movie quality, but even if they didn't care about good writing...come on!
I'm speaking of the Locust Queen. Through the whole second half of the game we hear her insipid announcements(obviously she was on the "prophet of truth-school of evil-administration") and when I finally faced her, I expected something...well at least not some blonde human chick with a crabshell taped on her back and some tentacles!...that was not intimidating, not even interesting. I was hoping for something like Kerrigan or -if i don't get to see some inhumanly deformed yet hot exotic alien skin with some blades or tentacles- at least a giant insectlike queen organism(brain bug/overmind,etc). It was so...anticlimatic. the queen of the locust is some anorexic goth girl who forgot to take off her halloween costume :/

Another shining example is "Jack The Knife" from Fable. Additionally to his ridiculous name, his clothing habits and his I-Am-eeeviiil-way of speaking(which marks him as a villain from the start and maybe should have been a parody?)he wants to rule the world blahdibla and sucks at the last boss fight.

she's not a boss? You don't fight her at all, you fight her little lame minion thing that has a badass polearm chainsaw crazy thing that cuts through tanks. She may still be alive, and that is what talk of the 3rd game in the series is about. Oh, as well as the whole Carmine A,B,C,D thing.
^If i'm wrong please tell me.

Yupp, you are right. While you don't fight her in Gears of War 2, I expect her to be the boss in Gears of War 3(when she falls in imulsion or sth like that). So for me, she has earned her "Boss Status"(as yet has to prove herself in battle). Additionally, she is also a real "boss" i.e. the leader of a faction, what could also be another category for this thread.

Halo 3.

Pyschonauts. The player can just use shield and invisibility while waiting for the meter to build up.

one comes quickly to mind: last boss in Halo 3
guilty spark, do I need to say more?

and final boss of FFX-2
shuyin (or whatever his name was) was ridiculously easy to beat, especially for a final boss. very disappointing boss for a very disappointing game in general :/

The only one I can think up is Zant from Twilight Princess.

The guy was built up as being all evil, powerful and mysterious and then you actually fight him.... my God he was NUTS!!! It was like fighting a little child. Not to mention that since hearts are so easy to find you'll have so much health it'll be impossible for you to die.

Shuyin wasn't the final boss in the sense that Human Sephiroth wasn't the final boss of FF7, even if you did fight him last

I have seen Shuyin kill players, both myself and my mom have both died to him, in my case, it was because I rushed through the game, was about level 35 with no real idea what I was doing as far as classes go, and my mom because.. I imagine she was doing some sort of speed game, because she's pretty hardcore JRPG gamer.

Vegnagun was an ordeal in my game, he took about an hour to beat, just because my characters were so weak, but oh man.. I still look back at that as one of my favorite moments in gaming, and I'm actually a little sad that it's in FFX-2 of all games. I drew a crowd, my whole family was watching, I had two friends drop by and catch me in the middle, my girlfriend was there, my sister's girlfriend, and when I finally beat that bastard, there was just a thunderous applause and ovation in the room like nothing I've ever experienced.

Yepp, Halo 3 was quite disappointing...I was hoping to tear at least some of Graveminds tentacles off :(

And Psychonauts: Well the last fight was not difficult, but the whole Meat Circus Level before makes up for it :(

Most times these days... the end Boss in any shooter seems... very Not worth fighting/ i.e not bothering to complete

all the Bosses in Army of 2, even the special downloaded levels, were all very very Easy, even in the harder modes

In Final Fantasies, the last bosses are never the toughest enemies. The point is that if you want a challenge, you can go and find the tougher creatures. Starting from FF1's dreadnought type creature with nukes to Ruby/Ultima/Omega... Weapons.

Your correct, Gears 2 has so many great boss fights I wasn't particularly fussed that we didn't get to fight the queen.

The end boss in CoD4, while being very epic and a wonderful way to wrap up the story and kill off the characters, felt slightly weak in my opinion. It only takes one shot to kill him, and then two more for his cronies. There should have been a difficult fight between you and a tank (or something similar) before you killed him so at least you have something difficult to accomplish.

I'd also like to say how damn cool the OP's username is.

well, yeah i gotta say oblivion
boring NPC saving the day... not even a cool or well developed NPC! god dammit im the hero in the fucking prophecy, im loaded down with daedric weapons, magical shit... but nope, it ends with A FUCKING ESCORT QUEST. AN ESCORT QUEST! morrowind was better.
and bioshock.
ryan was good, even though it was all cutscene, sucks you further into the game, WAY further into the game. but fontain was just ANNOYING, that stupid voice, and the last boss... ok sure, it wasnt EASY per-se, but it wasnt anything approaching hard and the cool factor just dropped like a rock tied to another bigger, heavier rock. i mean, with the rest of the game i wouldnt have expected them to do the whole shifting element/opposing element final boss cliche BS

I bet you my mom is more hardcore JRPG fan then you are.

her list of JRPG games she's beaten is staggering.

She has put a thousand of hours (yes, thousand) into Final Fantasy X. She's played it through probably about 15 times, she just takes her time with it.

She certainly plays more JRPGs then I do. I've given up on my PS2, but she's still trucking on it. She's written FAQs, beaten games 100% (several times in some cases), whole nine-yards.

she's also 53.
