I want to see a game with Platinum mechanics but with grounded fighting choreography

I'm kinda torn on the Platinum games on one hand I like their deep fighting mechanics and the ability to make your own combos but on the other the over the top stylish choreography does nothing for me. I don't know one of the reason why I was sort of excited for the Platinum Turtles game is that I can enjoy a Platinum game with out the silly looking visuals

Ever played God Hand? It was made by Clover Studio (before the employees formed Platinum) and it goes for that build-your-own-combo hand to hand combat. The melee is relatively grounded, at least when compared to the rest of the game.

Thats a good start but I'm hoping to see more counters, grapples and throws

You sorta seem to be wanting two different things...Platinum doesn't exactly do grounded combat all that much. Hard to not see over the top included with their games.

Though Absolver has some of what you're looking for I think. Don't remember if it came out yet or not.

Maybe... For Honor?

I only think this because of Super Bunnyhop's video about the game and the core combat system seems very in-depth requiring a lot of skill and practice to master. And, the combat moves are much more based in realism than a Platinum game. However, I have no clue of the quantity and quality of the community as the game, I think, kinda bombed. However, you never know as there could be a pretty small hardcore and dedicated community still playing as I don't think there's another game with a similar combat system so people that do love the game can't really switch to a different game.
