Is anyone else sort of annoyed about all these new internet terms that have risen up recently? Butthurt, fake and gay, umad, cool story bro, over 9000, taking an arrow to the knee, etc. I think they are over used all across the interwebs and for some reason or other they seem to irritate me to no end.

It's not the phrases so much as the people who use them. I'll go on TF2 and there'll be a little 12 year old who thinks he's a troll because he says "you mad bro?" every time someone else speaks. That's not trolling, that's just idiotic.

Haha, that reminds me of a similar situation. It wasn't involving these kind of phrases, it was some kid who apparently thought his stupid knowledge of Call of Duty terms would cross over to Gears of War 3. I actually was called a noob by a 12 year old because I was "hard scoping". Stupid enough on Call of Duty, but this was on Gears of War 3 for crying out loud. Every time he would die he would come up with some way to invalidate the kill and it was just pathetic and annoying.

I'm tired of the "I used to be a blah blah blah then I took an arrow to the knee" it's getting really old, really fast.

The most annoying is that ridiculous "nope, Chuck Testa" idiocy. I just can't stand it. It's as if people now strive for mediocrity and unoriginality by paroting the same few phrases endlessly.

I was going to bug you with an "arrow to the knee" joke, but then I took an arrow to the knee.
...But seriously, that's a cool story bro.
Umad?

I used to hate arrow-in-the-knee jokes, but then I took an arrow to the prefrontal cortex. Now I don't hate anything, anymore.

Really? You lament the existence of the internet spread sayings and yet utilize the internet spread term of interwebs... that's like the kid who says punk has sold out while championing blink 182.

I used to be tired of memes, but then I took an arrow to the knee.

Nah, really they just don't affect me at all. I don't find them funny, but they don't cause me any harm either. The only one that ever annoyed me even slightly was "The cake is a lie", but no meme since has been overused that much.

Uhh since when are some of those new terms?
And even then why get irritated over them? Hell I think interwebs sounds stupid but you don't hear me complaining.

It think that says it all. I don't care about all these memes few of those are new and the best thing to do is just ignore them making threads about them will just bring in people using the memes to annoy you and accomplish nothing.

I, for one, enjoy memes.

They are quite hilarious when used in the right context.

Although, "The Cake is a lie" is the only one that's been done to death for me. I will give you a freaking companion cube if it will get you to shut up about nonexistent delicacies.

...how the hell is "butthurt" recent? I was using the term before the internet was really a thing... you know, BBS trolling.

yeah, I enjoy memes.

My friends and I have a variety of inside jokes, similar to internet memes, which get tossed around in a closed setting as a way of keeping smiles on our faces. When real humor comes about (which is quite rare) we all basically die laughing, and then a new meme comes of it. So in my opinion, memes are just a ground-down attempt at sparking a humorous flame with a wet match.

I find that constantly thinking of new jokes helps..... although that may just be extending the issue further...

i tend to deduct like 100IQ points from anybody who uses 'umad' in an argument, annoying, yes, but its excellent for finding morons.

'over 9000' has kinda faded for the most part, but 'arrow to the knee' can fuck right off, it was never funny.

and for fun, my first thought on seeing the threads title:
"I was butthurt, but then I took an arrow to the knee"
>.>
so now your ass hurts and your bleeding?
