Milk shakes, Frappuccinos from Starbucks, Italian ices, Frostys from Wendy's; I can handle cold drinks like anyone else. So why do the Frutista Freezes from Taco Bell give me ice cream headaches worse than any I've felt before? Has anyone else experienced this?

I'm fortunate enough to say that I just don't get brain freeze. Ever. Doesn't matter what I eat or drink, how fast I eat or drink it, or how much of it I eat or drink, I just don't get brain freeze. One thing in life that I can always be proud of. I am officially immune to brain freeze.

I never had a brain freeze before. It sounds painful :S

Well, I guess I take my time when I eat something cold.

I get brain freeze all the time, but I know what causes it so I can generally fix it pretty quickly.

You know that soft bit at the back top of your mouth? When you get brain freeze, warm that up. Lick it or something, just warm it up, et voila! No more brain freeze.

Blasphemer! :p

I don't think there's anything I get brain freeze from worse than other things. I have no special immunities to that.

But, I am abnormally immune to sour things... which really sucks, because I LOVE sour things.

Brain freeze It is caused by having something cold touch the roof of the mouth (palate), and is believed to result from a nerve response causing rapid dilation and swelling of blood vessels or a "referring" of pain from the roof of the mouth to the head. The rate of intake for cold foods has been studied as a contributing factor.

Thank your wikipedia.

I did just say the way to stop brain freeze, surely from that people could guess what caused brain freeze? I didn't know the details about it, but I knew that cold things cause a nerve reaction when they touch the palate.

But now we know. So we are all happy.

Brainfreeze. God's punishment for eating awesome food.

Anyway, I've never been to Taco Bell so I have no idea why.
