I'd like to see an alien invasion movie from the perspective of the aliens...

...with no major human characters and no cuts to develop the human side of the story. I would like to see the writers attempt to realistically portray how an outside species would view human culture and learn about us to better destroy us. Kind of like that scene in the alien invasion movies where the heroes capture an alien and do an autopsy to find its weakpoints, or they crack the code that brings down the aliens' forcefields... but with the roles reversed.

After the absolute travesty that was Battle: Los Angeles, the genre could use a good shaking up with some fresh material.

So... kind of like District 9, but with less human characters watched?
I would not really consider District an alien invasion movie, considering the aliens were marooned here, did not take any organized military action, and were for the most part feral and stupid. District 9 was really a thinly veiled film about apartheid and race relations, with a kickass action segment.

I would pay to watch that movie. And if it is done right, I would pay to see it a few times.

I don't know why everyone hated Battle: LA. I had a lot of fun going to see it.

OT: It would be interesting, but I think a lot of audience members would be upset about it and be unable to connect with the aliens. I mean, why should I like or become invested in characters that are either killing or enslaving my species?

What about Battlefield Earth? Truth be told, I haven't watched it, but I heard it was mostly from the alien invaders' perspective. Also, it has John Travolta in it, when his Thetan level was still 9001.

I would watch that if it did not show the aliens as stupidly evil or attacking for no reason. Other then that I would think that has potential.

I hated it because it had nothing to do with aliens at all; you could have replaced them with the Russians or the Chinese or fuck all and had the same film. It was basically military porn from the first minute to the last minute, full of noble sacrifices to save children, "oorah"ing, and Gears of War/Call of Duty-style bro-marines saying terrible one liners. I rolled my eyes so much during that movie that I believe I spent more time looking at the ceiling of the theater than the screen

No. God no. It is from the perspective of crap. That was a terribly ridiculous film. Well worth seeing though, just for the lulz. It was from the perspective of one human who could understand the aliens, which were just...dumb.

I can't possibly argue with the acting and dialogue. It was bad. Hands down. But the fact that the aliens could have been just another military force is precisely why I enjoyed it. If an alien race was instigating a ground invasion of major cities humans would react exactly as we would to a normal invasion, and I liked seeing aliens cut into the scenario.

a game along these lines would be interesting too.
X-COM from the alien perspective? Fuck yeah I would play that. Abducting and harvesting humans to learn their anatomy to create infiltration clones, exploiting existing human conflicts by negotiating with one nation against others, and laying waste to petty human armies and their machines with telekinesis and plasma weapons. Sounds like fun.

Yeah I can't say I've ever seen or heard of anything like that, people just have such a demand to see the human race on top...or at least the center of attention when we're not.

I'd love to see that! I think it would also be cool to have a movie when an alien planet gets invaded and it turns out it's humans. I reckon that could be pretty interesting.
