So now the latest entry to the acclaimed occult themed RPG franchise Persona has been announced, though devoid of any kind of trailer yet. Given how similar the last two games were, and how they in turn were a change from the first two/two-and-a-half games, I would consider it a real possibility that Atlus might be making another major shift in gameplay, preferably a more fleshed-out battle system.

Nothing is certain yet. What would you like to see?

Well let's see... Persona 3 focused on the theme "School is Evil". Persona 4 focused on "TV is Evil". Hmmmm.... how about this- "Government is Evil". You could fight Bush and Oliver North as bosses, with the last boss being Obama.... lol...

Anyway, I think that they should make the weaknesses and strength make sense. They changed them alot from P3 to P4. Also, I think they should add different social links for the same Arcanas, like the strength and sun social links in P4. It makes each play through sorta different. I would also like some of the characters to be chosen. Like, maybe if you max out a social link, you could invite that person to join your team later on. They could put a limit on it so you don't have 20 people in your group to chose from.

Probably going to abandon school, and focus on workplace relationships.

Nah. That'd be great, but we'll likely still remain playing as teenagers at school.

Fusing many of the same demons, to fight through dungeons.

Not that it's bad thing, mind you.

To me this series is pretty close to perfect so I'll just make a wishlist.

-Dual Audio (I don't wanna import another persona game lol)
-Higher general difficulty without simple reliance to broken-strong foes or mudo-hama. (p3 was sorta OK but 4 was too easy)
-Longer Game world duration, making it a 3 game-years event would be awesome, it would have space for more cool things to happen.
-Some kind of spell fusion, I still don't know why they removed the fusion spells from p3 going into p4.
-Some character voiced by Kugimiya Rie (this is sort of a joke but meh, Rise <3333)

Your oversimplifications insult this beautiful series. P3 was about Death and 4 about Truth.

Also, the social links play a role, they can't randomize the arcana cause they symbolize who the person you're making friends with is. It's an aspect of that character what arcana is created when you befriend them. Look up what the meanings behind the arcana such as the sun or the lovers are, because you seem to not understand them right now.

-Branching paths for S. Links.
-Keep combat basics the same, but add in a couple of other elements.
-Make the actual endings not so tricky to get.
The rest is fine. Whatever they choose to do.
Edit: Dual-Audio would be nice too. Adds more replay value. (VA for 3 was meh, 4 was great)

Sorry but unless you played the original version you don't know if it was great or not. 4 was just as ugly and wrong. Rise was horrible (because her original form was basically perfection in audible form), Yosuke sounded like he was 9 when his actual voice was so badass in quite a few parts, they changed Kuma to "Teddie" for some reason and screwed up his jokes...and Kanji was just wrong altogether, they actually altered his story regarding his sexuality too, not just localized his lines.

For a dub? It was freakin' awesome. You've already hashed it out with mireko, my responses will be similar.

I don't know, going into it with localization in mind and obliterating all the original goodness but keeping all the honorifics sounds like an attempt at having their cake and eating it too (and in this context "having" entails consumption such as in the following: "I had 5 burgers, I'm full" :p)so even judging it from outside my perspective it still fails as a dub too. It may fail less than other dubs, when compared to other dubs it may seem actually great for a dub...but that still isn't anywhere near anything remotely close to something that is generally and unqualified "good".

If anything, praising that dub is just a testament to other dubs' suckiness lol.

A proper day-night cycle in the style of Majora's Mask or Harvest Moon. I'm sick of doing "one thing per time of the day" and I'm sick of being punished for wanting to spend time with Chie despite having already done her Social Link to the end. Maybe set a limit so that all your stats can be improved on once a day, but if you wanna visit a shrine, get a cup of coffee, then maybe go fishing all in one afternoon, and what the hell if I wanna sneak out at night to do a little night-exploration and not go to bed at all then by god I should be able to do it (with consequences of course). I want to truly immerse myself in the setting.

Exploration in the style of Yakuza 3/4, with stores and odd things to do during your time off that may not necessarily be directly beneficial, but add personality, charm and life to the setting. I don't wanna choose from a menu anymore. If we can render Kamurocho and Liberty City in the level of detail that we've seen, surely we can do P5 this way.

An Adventure Mode, again, in the style of Yakuza 3/4, where you can do all the social links, minigames, etc. independent of the story or the year-long time limit.

Proper in-engine cutscenes instead of overhead camera ones.

Do NOT get rid of the stylish HUDs though, or the talking head portraits when talking to people in game.

Did you only play P3 on PSP?

A lot of these things were present on the console version of p3 and in p4.

Played and beat both games on PS2. Which things are you referring to?

Mainly the exploration and adventure related things. You could travel on foot, you didn't have to use the menu for everything.

As for the cut scenes, those important ones were done in anime (but not in the psp version) so I figures you were noticing their absence.

I know, I just don't wanna resort to a menu to pick and choose where to go next once I reach the end of an area. I wanna walk the streets, get in alleys, take shortcuts and such. The Square button menu doesn't have to go away, but I really enjoy just walking through a whole city or town without needing to cut to a menu once I reach the end of the street. I like taking in sights and atmosphere, and watching the sun go down, figuratively.

And again, I don't think that every activity should be "DO IT FOR THE REST OF THE AFTERNOON" or "not at all." It seems superfluous but playing Yakuza really made me appreciate this level of detail going into a world.

They could increment your stat-gain depending on how long you do an activity so yeah, that part isn't that un-needed, though my way of looking at it is that you get to enjoy what you do, so you decided to spend enough time doing that, which was how you actually gained the stats from it. If you just had a bite and ran it wouldn't be the same psychological effect of being in that ramen shop for a whole afternoon, slowly slurping your noodles while watching people and observing the cook make it and all that stuff.

Please be on PS2 or 360. I don't want to have to get a PS3 for just one game.

A psp or (3)DS version is much more likely than a 360 version. Remember, Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey was a ds-only game...and that's basically the 4th main SMT game.

Though I wouldn't mind it for ps2.

I think I just woke up my father and younger brothers by squealing with excitement. I then realised I only own a pc and an xbox360, so getting to actually play it might be more difficult, unless things have changed by the time it comes out.

As for things I'd like to see in it? Pretty much what RedEyesBlackGamer and Dreiko said. Except for maybe the difficulty part. I apparently suck at these games, because I don't find them too easy.

Also: a little more time to raise stats and social links. I've gone through Persona 4 with the feeling that I was always busy trying to do something, and ended up missing or being unable to complete half of the social links. Currently playing Persona 3 FES, and I've already given up on trying to get most of the social links. There are a few people I'll try to get it to max with, but for the rest I simply get the idea that I don't have enough time to fully develop them.

I would also like to see the plot play out a little differently every time you play it. I'm currently also replaying Persona 4, but it's a bit less interesting and awesome as it was the first time.
The stat thing is for new game plus so unless they remove new game+ which is unlikely I doubt it'd change. If you do a new game plus for the secret boss, your s-link stats (knowledge, charm, courage etc.) are the ones you had when beating the game so you have enough time to romance and friend everyone :p.
